ThefirsttimeyouLaunchArq,thereareafewsimplestepsyou'llneedtofollowinordertoallowitto
useIgneousforbackupandrestore.
1. Thefirstscreenyouwillbepresentedwithisadialogboxallowingyoutochoosethetypeofstorage
whichwillbeusedforbackups.Choose Other S3-Compatible Service 2. Onthefollowingscreen,you'llneedtofillinafewdetails,whichwouldhavebeenobtainedin
the Igneous Configuration section.Whenyouhavefilledeverythingoutclick <Continue> 3. S3-CompatibleServerURL:inputthehostnameorIPaddressofyourIgneousdataRouter.Youmay
optionallysupplytheportnumber(443ifusingSSL,7070ifnot).
4. AccessKeyID:thiswouldhavebeenprovidedtoyoubyyourITadministrator,itistheequivalentofa
username.
5. SecretAccessKey:thiswouldhavealsobeenprovidedbyyourITadministrator,andistheequivalent
ofapassword.
6. RequestSignatureVersion:LeaveatDefault(SignatureVersion4)
7. Assumingyougetnoerrors,youshouldbepresentedwithascreenwhichallowsyoutocreateor
chooseabuckettouseforbackup.Youwillwanttochoose use existing bucket ,andselectthe
bucketyouwishtousefromthedropdownmenu.Ifyoudonotseethebucketyouwishtouse,
pleaseconsultwithyourIgneousadministratorandmakesurethatabuckethasbeencreatedin
advanceforyou.Onceyouhavemadeyourselection,click <Continue> :

8. IfthisisthefirsttimeyouhavesetupArq,choose <Set Up Backups> 9. Onthenextscreen,chooseanencryptionpassword.ThiswillallowArqtoencryptyourdatabefore
sendingittoIgneous,andallowyoutodecryptit,solongasyourememberthepassword!Onceyou
havechosenandconfirmedyourencryptionpassword,click <Continue> Arqwillnowpreparethecontainerforuse.OnMacintoshmachines,itautomaticallyschedulesa
backupofyourHomeDirectorydriveonceperhour.

thisscreenaswell.
Restores
InthemainArqpanel,expandthesectionunder Restore Files ,andbrowseforthebackupyouwish
torestore.Note:iftheIgneousbucketisbeingusedformultiplemachines,therewillbemultipleentries
here.Youwillonlybeabletoaccessbackupsforwhichyoupossessthecorrectencryptionpassword.
