WE WELCOME VISITORS
We always want to welcome visitors, Catholic or not. It
is a great joy to share our faith with all, and a privilege for
us to share in the faith of our friends. In order to avoid
awkwardness and embarrassment of any kind, however,
we ask that you help your non-Catholic friends to
understand our practices - especially our belief in the real
presence of Christ in Holy Communion. When
non-Catholic visitors see everyone stand and come up for
Communion they may get confused. We even see both
adults and children coming to Communion and then
taking the host and being puzzled about what to do with
it. Please let them know beforehand that it is okay for
them to remain in their seats.
Just to jog your memory, our Catholic belief is that:
Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the
Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith,
life, and worship, members of those churches with whom
we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to
Communion. Scripture is clear that partaking of the
Eucharist is among the highest signs of Christian unity:
"Because there is one bread, we who are many are one
body, for we all partake of the one bread" (1 Cor. 10:17).
For this reason, it is normally impossible for non-Catholic
Christians to receive Holy Communion, for to do so
would be to proclaim a unity to exist that, regrettably,
does not.
All who are not receiving Holy Communion are
encouraged to remain in their seats and express in their
hearts a prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and
with one another. We also welcome to this celebration
those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ. While we
cannot admit them to Holy Communion, we ask them to
offer their prayers for the peace and the unity of the
human family.
And as a reminder to us all, please be sure to immediately
consume the sacred Body of Christ! It is not ever to be
carried back to your seats and consumed at a later
time. We ask that everyone, especially our Eucharistic
Ministers, to be watchful that each person receiving the
Body of Christ consume it immediately.

SENIOR SOUP AND SANDWICH UPDATE
Heartfelt thanks to those who provided so many
hours of volunteer time to help make or monthly
Senior Luncheons the fun and exciting events that
they were for the last 10 years.
We especially thank Sal Donnarumma who worked
side by side with our Soup and Sandwich Leader, the
late Sonny DeBeauvernet.
Our monthly luncheon has been a mainstay for our
seniors in the Middletown Community. Although our
luncheons will never be the same our hope is to
explore options over the summer to continue to reach
out to our senior community in a similar way in the
fall.
If you are interested in volunteering in a new
luncheon program contact Nancy Miller at
845-342-1510 or [email protected]

ISN'T IT STRANGE ?
Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about
God to share it with others, but how easy it is to learn,
understand, extend and repeat gossip?

RCIA
WHAT IS RCIA?
RCIA is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
RCIA is a process, not so much a program, as a
journey of faith. It is centered on nurturing a deeper
relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church He
founded. The process provides interested adults and
older teens the opportunity to gradually become a part
of the Catholic Church, and receive the Sacraments of
Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist.
Who is RCIA for?
1. Persons who have not been Baptized and desire to
become Catholic.
2. Persons baptized in another Christian tradition who
desire to become Catholic.
3. Baptized Catholics in need of 1st Communion and/
or Confirmation
