THE DUCK CALL SEPTEMBER 2016 The Newsletter for the membership of Drake Creek Golf Club Newcomb, Riley, Trevathan Claim Texas Roadhouse West Kentucky Open Crowns Nick Newcomb of Benton won the professional division of the West Kentucky Open for the first time by a whopping 6 shots over local professional, Rick Cochran of Paducah. Newcomb fired a two-day total of 10 under par and won $1050 for his efforts. Ryne Burnett, Clay Hinton, and Nic Gooden all tied for 3rd, 14 shots behind Newcomb. Calvert City golfer Derek Riley (143) defeated a trio of Paducah area college golfers; Joey Mayo (Rhodes College), Nick Thompson (WKU), and Drake Stepter (Freed Hardeman Univ.) on the first hole of a 4-way playoff to claim the amateur division title. Eddie Trevathan (Gleason TN - 150) defeated Drake Creek members Rob Proctor and Tommy Thomas (151) to claim the Senior Amateur Crown. Nelson Shelby claimed first place honors in the second senior division flight. 66 players competed in this year’s West Kentucky Open. But the tournament’s true success is probably best measured by the comments, letters, and emails that we received from the players. Many considered the WKO to be the most professionally run tournament they played all year. The Drake Creek staff would like to extend our thanks to our member volunteers who helped make everything run so well! We couldn’t do it without you! • • • • • • • • • • Glow Ball scheduled for September 23 • Come join us for a fun filled evening of Glow Ball Golf on Friday, September 23.
