Please be sure to read Sections 4, 5, 6 and 7 to fully comprehend the game. 4.2 THE TRACK The game field, known as the “Track,” is an ovular shaped track with a goal on each end. The track is similar to a race track and the robots must drive around the field to compete. 4.2.1 THE SCORING ZONE The Scoring Zone is the area on each end of the track that has a high goal and a low goal. Each Scoring Zone is specific to one alliance. The Scoring Zone is surrounded by an area that can only be occupied by the other alliance for three seconds. The Arena 2 2009 Junior Robotics League Competition Manual 4.2.2 STARTING BOXES On the edge of the field are four Starting Boxes. Each alliance has two starting boxes, one for each team. The two starting boxes are opposite the other alliances starting boxes. 4.2.3 HAZARDS Each straight part of the track is edged by two different types of hazards.
