To control the flow of oil and gas from an oil well a series of valves are used.
They can be turned ‘on’ and ‘off’ rather like taps.
It looks like a decorated tree so has become known as a “Christmas Tree”.
Oil and gas engineers use a lot of maths in their jobs so we’ve
set some Prime Number problems with the “Christmas Tree”
below.

PRIME NUMBERS - 2
Can you make 3 ‘square numbers’ by adding two
prime numbers together?
Eg: 4 = 2 + 2;
9 = 7 + 2;
__=__+__
16 = 11 + 5
__=__+__
__=__+__
PRIME NUMBERS - 3
4 and 8 can be written as the sum of two prime
numbers ( 4 = 2+2
8 = 5+3 ).
Can you find 5 numbers, less than 20, which cannot
be written as the sum of two prime numbers?
