Solve the equation x3 – 3x2 + x – 3 = 0 for both real
and complex roots.

and complex roots.
Go to the EQUATION SOLVER Menu by pressing
Menu A and follow the given steps to solve the
equation.
Before starting the problem, select MODE and
choose complex roots, otherwise the calculator will
not give the complex roots.
1. Press F2 (Polynomial).
2. Press F2 (Degree of 3).
3. Enter the coefficients and the constant term into
the matrix. The screen should look like the one
below.
1. Press APPS and arrow down to select Poly
Smlt. Press ENTER.
2. Press ENTER again to get into the application.
The screen will look like the one below.
3. Select Poly Root Finder and press ENTER.
4. Input 3 and press ENTER
5. Enter the coefficients and the constant term.
The screen will look like the one below.
4. Press F1 (Solve).
The screen shown below gives the real, as well as
the complex roots.
6. Press F5 (Solve) The screen will look like the
one below.
