Bradley Show – now a weekend affair! 3rd - 4th September
Bradley Show is breaking new ground this year by getting started on Saturday 3 rd in the
afternoon/evening with a ‘Party in the Park’ on the playing field. This will feature local bands
and entertainment and will be suitable for all the family, who will be encouraged to bring
their own picnics. If any bands, groups or solo artists would like to perform, please contact Jill
([email protected] or 07749 108387) or any committee member.
Timings for the Show itself have now been finalised and involve an earlier start than
previously. Events on Sunday will kick off with the parade assembling at 11am and leaving
the Village Hall at 11.30am after the Fancy Dress has been judged. The Show will open at
12 noon and the Fell Races will follow immediately at 12.15. Additional events will include a
ring featuring country events and a children’s marquee featuring ‘Catchy’, entertainer to the
stars as seen on TV.
As ever, the Bradley Show team would love some more help. If you’d like to get involved,
please contact Jill Webster; Gwen Herbert, entries secretary, (01535 635537 or
[email protected]); or Tim Done, Fell Race (07718 160883).
Bradleys Both Neighbourhood Development Plan
The Public Consultation on the Draft Neighbourhood Plan, which could shape
development in the village over the next 15 years, will run until 5pm on 7th May
2016. The draft Plan and supporting documents are available to view online
at bradleyvillage.org/nhp. Printed copies can be viewed at the Village Hall on
Saturdays and Wednesdays, between 2pm and 5pm, and also at the Methodist
Chapel, St Mary’s Church, the village shop and the Slaters Arms during normal
opening hours. Comments on the plan can be submitted by hand to the ballot box

A Bradley School update from headmaster Barry Rogers:
Children, staff and governors are working hard and happily to provide a safe, enjoyable and
stimulating environment at Bradley School. A high point of the children’s week is attending
the ‘University of Bradley’ on a Friday afternoon as a reward for hard work and a positive
approach. This gives pupils the chance to work in small groups of mixed ages with staff and
volunteer parents to complete a module over half a term in, for example, film making,
photography, cooking, multi-sports, French, Spanish, craft, Spring Watch and sewing,
thereby promoting team and social skills.
Recent improvements to the school site include a canopy and outside learning environment
for Class 1, a Woodland Wildlife Area where children can play and learn, and, funded by
Friends of Bradley School, newly painted-up playground activities.
The school is proud of its role in the local community and enjoys the opportunity to
welcome people in for a whole range of events. Forthcoming events include:
Fashion Show, Wednesday 20th April, 7.30pm. High street clothing at big discounts. Tickets
are £5 including drink and nibbles and are available from the village shop or by contacting
Stacey Hepworth on 07771 348171 or [email protected] .
Cake Sale, Tuesday 3rd May, from 3.30pm
Race Night, date in June to be confirmed
Sports Day and Summer Fair, Saturday 9th July
Prospective families are always welcome to be shown around at a mutually convenient
time. Please visit www.bradleysbothcpschool.org.uk or telephone 01535 633116 to
arrange a visit.
Bradley Film Club
Bradley Film Club is a community
club for all members of Bradley
village. It is a free event, where
people can come and watch good
films, have a chat and a snack
and have a fun evening out.
If you are interested in supporting
the Film Club, e.g. have ideas
about how to get more people
involved, making popcorn or
drinks once a month, or setting
out chairs, or choosing the films,
or putting up posters, then please
get in touch and let me know.
Let’s try to make it a community
club again.

In memory of Neil Pate
The Bradley Show committee are organising a
memorial bench for Neil Pate. Neil was the bookings
contact for the village hall for several years and
a keen fell runner, consistently winning the best
local trophy at Bradley Show. He is sorely missed in
the village.
Anyone wishing to contribute towards the memorial
bench should please leave a donation at the village
shop. The bench will be placed on the playing field,
where people will be able to sit and watch the race
that he enjoyed so much.
Village cricket update
The season for the seniors starts on Saturday 16th April. The teams will be captained by Matt Buckmaster (1sts)
and Danny Smith (2nds).
The club will again be entering three junior teams in the UAJCA league (u11, u13 and u15). They are keen to add
to the pool of u11s particularly, so anybody who wishes to learn more about practice nights and how they register
their son or daughter (8 years old upwards) should contact Matt (Woody) on 01535 631483.
Plans are underway to reframe and clad the brown hut and move the refurbished scorebox closer to the pavilion.
