Our directions are designed to offer you the quickest routes into Cashiers. By taking a lot of the confusing road signs and numbers out, we
give you the most practical way of reaching our beautiful area. Here are routes we take when returning to Cashiers from these larger areas:
TO: CASHIERS
Atlanta, GA
(approx. 2 hrs and 55 min)
Take I-85 N for 98 miles (entering South Carolina). Take exit 1 for SC-11towards Westminster/Walhalla. Turn Left at SC-11 N/Cherokee Foothills Scenic
Hwy and follow for 19.7 miles. Turn Left to merge onto SC-28 W/Blue Ridge Blvd, continue to follow for 9.4 miles. Slight right at SC-107 N (entering
North Carolina), follow for approx. 23 miles. You will enter the heart of Cashiers.
Greenville, SC
(approx. 1hr and 50 min)
Take US-123 S out of Greenville for approx. 38 miles towards Seneca, SC. Just past Seneca you will take a slight Right onto SC-28/Blue Ridge Blvd. for
appox. 15.2 miles and past Walhalla, SC until you reach SC-107 N. Continue on SC-107 (crossing into NC and changing into NC-107) for approx. 22.7
miles and into Cashiers, NC.
Asheville, NC
(approx. 1 hr and 35 min)
Take I-240 W and continue onto I-26 E (see signs for I-26 E/Hendersonville/Spartanburg), stay on I-26 E for 9.4 miles. Take exit 40 for Asheville Regional
Airport/NC-280 toward Arden. Turn right at Airport Rd/NC-280 W and continue for 16 miles. NC-280 becomes US-64W and follow for approx. 32 miles
(curvy) to intersection with NC-107 in Cashiers, NC.
Knoxville, TN
*Scenic - Through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park (approx. 3 hrs and 15 min)
Take I-40 E for approx 10 to 13 miles depending on your starting location in Knoxville and on I-40. Take exit 407 toward Winfield Dunn Pkwy (TN-66 S)
and turn Right, follow for 8.5 miles. Continue onto 441 Scenic S through Sevierville, TN taking you towards Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN. Nearing
Gatlinburg, take a right exit onto US-441 Parkway Bypass/Gatlinburg Parkway Bypass and into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park towards Cherokee,
NC. Continue on US-441 S for approx. 27 miles, leaving the Park and into Cherokee, NC. At the third stop light in Cherokee (after leaving the park), take
a Right onto US-19/US-441 S (KFC on the corner) uphill to your first stop light then Left onto US-441 S, follow for 5.2 miles. Take the ramp onto Great
Smoky Mountains Expressway/US-441 S/US-74 E, continue for 11.4 miles to Exit 85 and Sylva/Cullowhee/W.Carolina University. Continue for another 1.6
miles on US-23 Business into Sylva and the third traffic light. Turn Left here and onto/towards NC-107 S to Cashiers, NC for approx. 27 miles traveling past
WCU campus and Cullowhee, NC.
** Note: this is an incredibly gorgeous drive and one we suggest taking, but be ready for and extremely curvy highway and slower moving traffic. Also, be sure to check
the weather conditions depending upon the time of year because the National Park Service will close US-441 due to inclement weather like ice and snow.
*Interstate - Around the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (approx. 3 hrs)
From Knoxville take I-40 E toward Asheville, NC for approx. 90 miles. Take exit 27 off of the Interstate and onto US-74 (Great Smoky Mountains
Expressway) and toward US-19/US-23/Clyde. Continue for approx. 21.5 miles and take Exit 85 toward NC-107/Cullowhee/W.Carolina Universtiy.
Continue 1.6 miles on US-23 Business into Sylva and the third traffic light. Turn Left here and onto NC-107 S to Cashiers, NC for approx. 27 miles traveling
by WCU campus and Cullowhee, NC.
Chattanooga, TN
(approx. 3 hrs and 40 min)
Take I-75 N toward Knoxville then take Exit 20 toward US-64 E/Cleveland. Make a slight Right at US-74E and continue for 6.4 miles. Merge onto TN-40
E/US-64E via the ramp to Ocoee and continue on for 58 miles (entering North Carolina). Turn Right at US-64 E (just outside of Murphy) and follow for 49
miles. Take the ramp to US-64 E/NC-28 S/Highlands Rd. Take a Right at US-64 E/NC-28 S/Highlands Rd and continue for 17 miles into Highlands, NC.
In Highlands take a Left at the second traffic light onto US-64 E/N 4th St. for approx. 10.2 miles to main intersection of US-64 and NC-107 in Cashiers.
