Day 1. Monday, May 15:
Depart today on your flight to Lisbon, Portugal and accommodation with an evening walk
Day 2. Tuesday, May 16: Lisbon
Upon arrival into Lisbon, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the city. Visit San Roque Church and
Musuem with its remarkably rich interior. In addition to its decorative attractions, the church contains
one of the thorns from Our Lord’s crown and a piece of the wood from His crib. Continue to Lisbon
Cathedral, built in 1150, three years after Lisbon was recaptured from the Moors. The cathedral’s most
prized possession is the casket containing the remains of St. Vincent, the city’s patron saint. Close by,
visit San Antonio a Sé, where St. Anthony of Padua was born. Then, visit and admire the
magnificent Monasterio dos Jeronimos, built to commemorate Vasco da Gama’s voyage to India and to give
thanks to the Virgin Mary for its success. (BB, D)
Day 3. Wednesday, May 17: Lisbon – Santarem – Tomar – Fatima
This morning, travel to Santarem and visit
the Church of the Eucharistic Miracle where a
Eucharistic Miracle took place in 1225 and
continues to this day. Pray before the crystal
flask that contains the Blood of Christ. Continue
to Tomar, a charming city founded by the
Knights Templar, and home to the Convent
of Christ, featuring fascinating Templar
history and the astounding stone carvings
characteristic of Manueline architecture.
Continue to Fatima for dinner and
overnight. (BB, D)
Day 4. Thursday, May 18: Fatima: Excursion
to Coimbra
Today travel north to Coimbra, the birthplace
of six kings of Portugal and the seat of
Portugal’s oldest university. Your first visit is
to the Convent of the Discalced Carmelites where
Sister Lucy of Fatima died, and which now
contains a museum related to her life in the
convent. Continue to the National Museum
Machado de Castro that holds several treasures
of St. Elizabeth Queen of Portugal as well as
other ecclesiastical gems. Before you return to
Fatima, visit the Convent of St. Clare the New which holds the remains of St. Elizabeth Queen of Portugal;
the visit includes also the cloister and treasury. Next to it, visit the now renovated Old St. Clare
Convent which suffered from flooding and was abandoned. (BB, D)
Day 5. Friday, May 19: Fatima: Excursion
to Alcobaca, Batalha and Obidos
This morning, visit two great monasteries
near Fatima: the 12th-century Monastery of
Santa Maria de Alcobaca, Portugal’s largest
church, famous for its simple, medieval
architecture; and the Dominican Abbey of Our
Lady of Victory at Batalha, a masterpiece of
Portuguese Gothic architecture. Continue
to the nearby coastal town of Obidos for
lunch on your free time. Return
to Fatima for dinner and overnight. (BB, D)
Day 6. Saturday, May 20: Fatima
After breakfast, we begin our tour
of Fatima, where we will
experience the beauty of this
spiritual town. We will see the
Basilica, the site of Francesco and
Jacinta's graves, the Hamlet of
Aljustrel, where the children lived,
and Valinhos, the site of Our
Lady's appearance after the
children's return from prison.
Experience Christ's love as you walk and follow the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacra (The
Sacred Way) culminating in the Chapel of Calvary, which overlooks all of Fatima. Join your prayers with
those of pilgrims from around the world as you pray for the sick, drink water from the miraculous well.
Attend the blessing of the sick and participate in nightly candlelight processions requested by Our Lady
(pending schedule). Time for private devotions before dinner and a restful night's sleep. (BB, D)
Day 7. Sunday, May 21: Fatima
Today, participate in the celebrations and festivities to commemorate 100 years since the apparitions of
Our Lady. In the late afternoon, enjoy some free time on your own before returning to the hotel for a
farewell dinner and overnight. (BB, FD)
Day 8. Monday, May 22: Flight back
Transfer to Lisbon airport for your flight back to the UK.
