June 2 HERBERT HOOVER NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE - The papers of President and Mrs. Hoover are among those housed in the library archives. Museum exhibits tell the story of Hoover's life and career. Tonight you overnight at the Fairfield Inn in Council Bluff IA. (B, D) June 3 Depart for the GREAT PLATTE RIVER ROAD ARCHWAY MONUMENT - The Archway is a museum and monument to Nebraska's and the Platte River valley's role in westward expansion. The Archway is directly over Interstate 80 three miles east of Kearney, NB. Before checking into the Holiday Inn Express Scotts Bluff, we travel the Western Trails Scenic & Historic Byway with a stop at Scotts Bluff National Monument in western Nebraska, which is an important 19th-century landmark on the Oregon Trail and Mormon Trail. (B, D) June 4 FORT LARAMIE NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE: Fort Laramie was a significant 19th century trading post and diplomatic site located at the confluence of the Laramie River and the North Platte River in the upper Platte River Valley in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Wyoming. Our stay this evening is the Quality Inn 49ers Inn in Jackson, WY. (B, D) June 5 The day is free to explore Jackson or take an optional float trip on the Snake River. The 10-Mile Float Trip runs from historic Dead Man’s Bar, located just below the Snake River Overlook, to Moose Village and is entirely within Grand Teton National Park, and covers the most scenic stretch of the Snake River within the entire Jackson Hole Valley. (B) June 6 After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel through the GRAND TETONS, home to the youngest peaks in the Rockies, and YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, America’s oldest and most beautiful national park and where you often see grizzly bears and elk roaming the streams, spectacular waterfalls and mysterious petrified forests. We will make a stop at OLD FAITHFUL GEYER and watch in amazement as the geyser erupts, sending a fountain of steam more than 60 feet in the air. Tonight you will overnight at The Cody Hotel, Cody, WY, and walk across the street to enjoy the CATTLE COMPANY DINNER SHOW, a foot-stompin’, hand-clappin’ live Western Music show. (B, D) June 7 We depart for SPEARFISH CANYON, A National Forest Scenic Byway and stop at TATANKA: Story of the Bison. Your hotel for the next two nights is the BW Golden Spike Inn, Hill City, SD. (B, D) June 8 A full day with visits to: MOUNT RUSHMORE MEMORIAL, featuring 60-foot sculptures of presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore; CRAZY HORSE MEMORIAL, the world’s largest sculpture still in progress and a BUFFALO JEEP RIDE, getting up close to the wildlife! Your driver and guide takes you off-road, where only our Jeeps are permitted, to provide historical and educational information about the Park and wildlife. (B) June 9 After your breakfast at the hotel, you will travel to MEDORA, ND, with free time in the afternoon. This evening you will have a unique dining experience at the PITCHFORK FONDUE overlooking the picturesque Badlands, plus you will be serenaded with western melodies. After dinner you will attend the MEDORA MUSICAL, a western-style musical set in the outdoor splendor of the rugged North Dakota Badlands overlooking the Little Missouri River Valley. Your stay tonight is at the Rough Riders Hotel. (B, D) June 10 After your Chuck Wagon Breakfast, you travel to the DAKOTA DINOSAUR MUSEUM which features 11 full-scale dinosaurs including a real skeleton of a Triceratops. The museum features an outstanding collection of minerals from around the world. Other exhibits include fluorescent minerals, invertebrate and vertebrate fossils, mammals including a bison and a rhinoceros bone-bed, and modern seashells and sea life. This evening we will stay at the Hampton Inn in Bismarck, ND after a LEWIS & CLARK RIVERBOAT CRUISE. (B, D) June 11 Breakfast is at the Hampton Inn. Today we leave the Dakota’s, travel though Minnesota and overnight in Eau Claire, WI. (B, D) June 12 After breakfast, we journey to the Northern Indiana Amish Country. Your stay is at the beautiful Essenhaus Inn with dinner at the Das Dutchman Restaurant with time for shopping.
