• You are a time traveler that is part of an intergalactic
research group.
• You land in the ancient Middle East.
• Before you can leap to another dimension, you must
learn all you can about two important pastoral
nomadic groups in the ancient Middle East: The
Phoenicians and the Ancient Hebrews.
• You will send information about your experience to
the research group. Below you’ll find the information
that you need to include in your message.
The Phoenicians
1. Describe the culture of the ancient Phoenicians. You
might talk about the lifestyle of the Phoenicians. What
did they believe in? Who did they interact with? Why
did they interact with these people? What great
civilizations did Phoenicians create? You might
discuss great Phoenician leaders. You could describe
what resources were most important to the
Phoenicians. (2 paragraphs—10 good sentences).
2. Using the Phoenician alphabet, write your name. What
is the significance of this alphabet? Is this alphabet
practical?
