Dear Student
Summer vacation is a welcome break........breaks from fixed
schedule, rules and regulations. Freedom brings more responsibility,
keeping this in mind we have specially designed theme based projects
and activities to engage you in exploring varied vistas of knowledge.
To inculcate reading habit we would appreciate if you could read Newspaper daily
and at least one book/storybook (Hindi/English) of your choice per week. You have
to donate one book for your class library.
Following are a few handy tips for you to work in an organized and fun filled
manner:








Make a balanced time table to ensure that learning is fun.
Visit your grandparents, cousins and go camping.
Play outdoors and learn new skill.
Read the instructions carefully given in each subject while doing your
assignments.
Assignments should be done neatly.
Use your imagination and creativity for perfect presentation of your work.
Solve /answer the practice worksheets regularly.
We would appreciate if your work is done by you only.
We would like you to enjoy your holidays and return refreshed and rejuvenated to
embark on this academic year.

Never under estimate the power of one...
You are a crusader working for the revolutionary
newspaper ‘Power of One‘. Using chart paper,design
the front page of your daily newspaper with the
following articles etc.
1.
Write an article reporting about a latest conquest
of a man/woman who has brought about a
sensational change/revolution despite
numerous obstacles and setbacks to have
become a hero.
2. Design a poster promoting a quality that you find is
soon vanishing from the human race and would like to
promote through your newspaper.
3.Interview your society/colony’s welfare residential
organisation’s chairman/president about the welfare work
done by him to improve the living conditions of the
residents since he took over the post.Also, his struggles
and problems faced while discharging his duties. Don’t
forget to ask him about the cooperation and support he’d
like in order to fulfill his duties effectively.

1.Read Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and answer the worksheet
attached .Each division/unit in the story should be
answered separately on a different copy of the 3-21worksheet.
2.Read Tom Sawyer and Oliver Twist and write a
summary of the plot,tracing the events one by one of
each on lined A4 sheets in point form.Do not exceed
15 points for each.

Booklet/Scrap Book/ Collage of any Ten

one among them who inspired you a lot.

Activity2:
Imagine that you live on a planet in a newly discovered galaxy and
are part of a delegation that is attending a seminar on ‘Trecking
space debris”. The tabular data given shows the distance of a space
scientist, you are required to interpret and analyse this raw data and
make a few calculations by expressing very large numbers in
exponential forms. You will need to apply the conceptual knowledge
of exponents to draw inferences from this data.
Find the distance between any five celestial bodies from your planet.
Perform the following tasks to interpret and analyse the data given
with respect to your data collection.

Holiday Assignment: Social -Studies
“INEQUALITY & GENDER ISSUES- GOALS/PURPOSE”
The gender discrimination & inequality is the result of human practice. It is
in vogue since time immemorial. The degree of discrimination varies
according to the development stage of a particular society. The efforts to
eliminate gender discrimination are continued. In this direction, various
provisions under the constitution and statutes have been incorporated and
implemented with little success. The change in social mindset and
involvement of all sections of society is required to achieve the ends to have
one strong power.
JOB AT HAND:
To make the project unique find out at least 7 current/recent and
practical incidents about gender issues/inequality which are happening
around you. Click the pictures or use the pictures from the newspapers,
old books, magazines etc & give the details in your project along with the
photographs. What are your views about such incidents/situations and
solution for the situation.
Here are some guiding questions to make this project lively:
*What are gender issues ?
*Why people are practicing inequality?
*How can you create awareness and change the attitude of people?
*Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere?
