P6/7 are all animating a narrative poem written by Robert Burns called Tam’O Shanter. It was written in 1789 which means it is 229 years old. It is about a man who gets drunk and he gets chased by witches and warlocks. First we had to install the tuffcam operating disk into the computer. It was really easy to do this. Then we had to go onto a website to download a stop motion animator, this was again was very straight forward. After that we planned our animation by writing a storyboard. This was quite hard because we had to calculate lots of things but it helped in the end. We thought it would be cool to experiment with the software. Everyone made cool videos. Everyone made really funny videos and Tom and Callum made an awesome car crash. The next step for us was to record us saying the parts of the poem we were supposed to do. It was very difficult because the slightest mistake could make a massive difference. Everyone had to record it tonnes of times. To make it sound like they were in a chase we got a rain stick to make it sound stormy. To make it sound like the horse galloping two sticks together, this was very difficult because we had to keep a rhythm to it. Eventually we had to calculate how many clicks (frames) we would have to do for each scene. Amazingly per 1 second of film we had to do fifteen clicks. We were almost ready to film but first we had to do some drawings. All our drawings were really good. This was very easy to do but it took up a lot of time. Finally we were ready to do our filming. It was very hard because we didn’t have much experience of using the software. But the filming turned out really good and we had lots of very good scenes. To make sure we didn’t lose our work we saved it in the pool and named it correctly. We were ready to film our next scene. It was going to be easier because we all had more experience with the software. We did make a few mistakes but their turned out to be very good scenes. So we saved it in the correct place and named it correctly. Eventually we finished our film after 10 long weeks. We got all the classes to come and see our film. They enjoyed it very much and they were amazed at how we did it so we had to answer lots of questions. By Callum P7
