“Our God”
Chris Tomlin/Matt Redman
Water You turned into wine, opened the eyes of the blind;
There’s no one like You, none like You.
Into the darkness You shine, our of the ashes, we rise;
There’s no one like You, none like You.
(Chorus)
Our God is greater, our God is stronger; God, You are higher than any other.
Our God is healer, awesome in power, our God, our God.
Into the darkness You shine, out of our ashes, we rise;
There’s no one like You, none like You.
(Chorus)
And if our God is for us then who could ever stop us,
and if our God is with us then what could stand against?
(Repeat)
What could stand against?
(Chorus)
“Your Grace Is Enough”
Matt Maher
Great is Your faithfulness O God.
You wrestle with the sinner's restless heart.
You lead us by still waters into mercy,
And nothing can keep us apart.
So remember Your people, Remember Your children.
Remember Your promise O God.
(Chorus)
Your grace is enough, Your grace is enough,
Your grace is enough for me.
Great is Your love and justice God of Jacob.
You use the weak to lead the strong.
You lead us in the song of Your salvation,
And all Your people sing along.
So remember Your people, Remember Your children.
Remember Your promise O God.
(Chorus)
Yeah, Your grace is enough, Heaven reaches out to us.
Your grace is enough for me.
God I sing, Your grace is enough, I'm covered in Your love.
Your grace is enough for me, for me.
The Call To Confession
The Prayer Of Confession
The Prayer of Confession: Merciful God, in whom we live and move and have
our being, we confess to you our sin. We have all sinned and fallen short of the
glory you intend for us. Forgive our sin. Remove from us the self centeredness
that separates us from you and those around us. Create in us a clean heart
that we may love you, serve you, and find in you our greatest joy. In the name
of Christ we pray, amen.

Children’s Hymn
“Jesus Loves Me”
Warner/Bradbury
Hymnal No. 185
Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong; They are weak but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.
Ordination and Installation of New Officers
Offering
Offertory
I have journeyed
Through the long dark night;
Out on the open sea,
By faith alone, sight unknown.
And yet, His eyes were watching me.
“The Anchor Holds”
Chewning/Boltz
Fuzz Meneley, Solo
(Chorus)
The anchor holds,
Though the ship is battered;
The anchor holds,
Though the sails are torn.
I have fallen on my knees
As I face the raging seas.
The anchor holds,
In spite of the storm.
I've had visions,
I've had dreams;
I've even held them in my hand.
But I never knew
They would slip right through;
Like they were only grains of sand.
(Chorus)
I have been young,
But I'm older now;
And there has been beauty
These eyes have seen.
But it was in the night
Through the storms of my life;
Oh, that's where God proved
His love to me.
(Chorus)
Doxology
Hymn No. 815
(please stand if able)
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Him all creatures here below.
Praise Him above ye heavenly host.
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer
Mark Lee
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power,
and the glory, forever. Amen.
Old Testament Lesson
Proverbs 3:5 - 12
(Pew Bible Pages 450 & 451)
5 Trust
in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your
paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and
shun evil. 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your
bones. 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all
your crops; 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats
will brim over with new wine. 11 My son, do not despise the LORD’s
discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, 12 because the LORD disciplines
those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

“When I Survey The Wondrous Cross”
Hymn No. 324

New Testament Lesson
Acts 5:12 - 16
(Pew Bible page 774)
12 The
apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people.
And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade.
13 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded
by the people. 14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed
in the Lord and were added to their number. 15 As a result, people
brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that
at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.
16 Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their
sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.
Sermon
“The Shadow Of A Person”
Affirmation Of Faith—A Brief Statement Of Faith
(please stand if able)
Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in
the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be
exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in
human likeness. And being found in human form he humbled himself and
became obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross. Therefore God
also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth
and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Financial Update
The overview of 2016 and plan for 2017

We ended 2016 with a deficit of about $22,000; with expenses 7% under budget and income 11% under budget

Pledges for 2017 are 94% of the 2016 pledges

It is clear we must reduce the 2017 budget from the 2016 level

We expect the session to approve a 2017 budget in their meeting next week

We continue to encourage stewardship of our personal financial gifts and of Carmel resources
With the leadership and service of Bill Wood and Mark Lee, 2017 will be an exciting year of growth.

Scripture tells us to “pray for one another” (James 5: 16). We alphabetically rotate through our church membership on an annual basis, and
each week we pray as a body for specific Carmel families. Although you may not know each member, our God is faithful to listen to the prayers we
bring on each other’s behalf before his throne. When there is a month which has a fifth Sunday, our staff members are the focus of our prayers.
This week we invite you to include the following families in your daily prayers: Darlene Conroy – Office Administrator; Angela Copperwheat –
Director of the Weekday School.
We would also like to invite the Carmel family to lift up the following college students in your daily prayer: Taylor Nisbet; Philip Hamrick; Sydney
Nazloo.
