PROGRAM PURPOSE If we truly want a fitter Canada that encompasses healthier choices and participation in activities and sports, the GUAG movement needs to be FREE! Free for every Canadian who can benefit from the research, effort and programs that have already been established. Our purpose is not to redo the estimable work that has already been conducted but to bring these programs together in a “best practice” umbrella and position it in an easy-to-use, fun and affordable movement to get Canadians eating healthier and becoming more active. The other important difference is that the GUAG movement program will be tailored/shaped to the individual’s cohort: 5-12 years of age, 13-21 years of age, 25-40 years of age and for those over 40 years of age. In addition, such customization will also decipher between gender and by ability – introductory, moderate and advanced. Each level of the program will offer healthy choices of eating, plus various activities, sports that can be blended into the program. A sense of accomplishment and confidence is the key to successful participation and commitment to the program. It is our endeavor to demonstrate true leadership in sport and physical activity in Canada and our pro-active GUAG movement has the potential to minimize the long-term health effects of inactivity amongst Canadians, both young and old. The GUAG call to action will engage Canadians from coast to coast in an effort that combines nutrition, fitness and well-being collectively as one holistic approach. It will not be the program contents that will set it from the rest but rather the unique and communicative strategies that will be implemented to ensure our message is heard by all. STRATEGIES Differentiation Strategy In terms of differentiating itself, it will be the combined delivery and profiling of GUAG that will set it apart from comparable programs.
