Boosterthon update
Final numbers are in….the Boosterthon event raised $23,593 for KDM.
Other interesting stats:
States: 35
Countries: 12
Participation: 79%
Top Class: Mr. Stewart
After our first count, we have collected approximately 80%. Thank you! $16,000 will be used to pay for
Field Trip transportation costs. The remainder will be used to offset Field Trip admission costs –
lowering the amount parents will pay for upcoming trips.

Mileage Club
Please have your students bring their chains from last year if they still have them. Reward charms (and
new chains as needed) will be given out starting this week. Please note: the correct email address for

Box Tops update
We collected a total of 12,518 Box Tops during our Fall contest – amounting to $1,252 for KDM. The
following classes have won a lunchtime pizza party: Dr. Haney AM; Riddle; Hober/Ryan; Clark; Simpkins;
Quinn-Kerins. Here are the final standings:

Parent Key Communicator – Meeting Minutes
Parent representatives from KDM go to regular GVSD “Parent Key Communicator” meetings to discuss
information pertinent to families across the district. Parent representatives are charged with bringing
concerns from parents/schools to the District Office on an anonymous basis. Please click here to see

Great Valley Middle School Theatre Company proudly presents, The Little Mermaid, Jr.
Based on the wildly successful Disney movie, The Little Mermaid, Jr. is an action-packed musical about
a beautiful mermaid who dreams of becoming human. It’s a treat for all ages so gather a group of friends,
family and neighbors and join us “under the sea” for one or ALL of our four (4) performances! Just print
the form, attach a check, place in an envelope and return to your homeroom teacher by Friday,

Registration Opportunities
Bricks 4 Kidz
A new Bricks 4 Kidz session "Life sciences" begins on October 22nd. It’s a 6-week session costing
$90/session. $72 if you choose to enroll in all sessions till June 10th, 2014. Explore the fascinating science
of living things and build engaging models of creatures from caterpillars to dinosaurs. During this six-week
unit, students will explore topics such as how the human body stays cool, the amazing life cycle of a
butterfly, and investigate the Venus Fly Trap -- a plant that eats bugs! If you love creatures, this is the

Science Explorers After-School Science Club at KDM for Grades 1-5:
The second club of the school year is set to begin on Nov 4th!! Science Club meets on Mondays in KD
Markley Elementary's Science Lab after school from 3:45-4:45pm and is available to students in 1st to 5th
grade. The next club topic is ANATOMY ACADEMY: Head, shoulders, knees and toes, eyes, ears, mouth
and nose…..lungs, heart, brain and skin….where should Science Explorers begin? Learn how your skin
holds you together and how to make your memory better. Grow a brain, build a lung, touch a heart, have
some fun, join the club, before it’s done!

Young Rembrandts - A Different Kind of Learning. A Powerful Kind of Fun!
Young Rembrandts teaches drawing with a see-touch-do method that all kids can succeed with, learn from
