THE 2013 HELEN RUFFIN READING BOWL D. H. Stanton

D. H. Stanton Elementary School
BOOK FAIR
Many thanks to all of you who supported
our Scholastic Book Fair the first week of
October. With our $400.00 profit, I will be
able to order a classroom set of large,
hardbacked children’s dictionaries.
Special thanks to Mr. Dunn and Mr. Railey,
who dug deep into their pockets and did
their Christmas shopping that week!

Here is a wonderful service, paid for by APS,
that offers much help with books that you
might be teaching/reading with your classes:
PIZZA HUT'S 2012-13 "BOOK IT"
PROGRAM
In this promotion, your students get
credit for the books they read, resulting
in certificates for free pizzas.
A packet has been placed in the
mailboxes of all teachers in grades K-5.
All you do is log-in, register your class,
then watch the reading increase!
There is no log-in required on APS
computers:

THE 2013
HELEN RUFFIN READING
BOWL
We have officially registered a team for
this exciting and rigorous competition
which will take place the last Saturday of
January at Drew Charter School. Fourth
and Fifth Grade teachers have
recommended their tip-top best readers
to Ms. Street, who is the team sponsor.
There are 16 chapter books to be read,
which means that each team member
must become an “expert” on at least 4
books. When you encounter these
students, please congratulate them and
offer a word of encouragement.
