THE DAILY ASHINGTON Our Week at a Glance 10/12 /2015- 10/16/2015 Students will be learning how to write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective techniques, descriptive details. Big Idea: Students know how to use weather maps and data to predict local weather and know that weather forecasts depends on many variables. Essential questions or phrases Be able to look at weather maps and understanding the symbols used to describe the weather. What is a Doppler radar? How can rising air pressure lead to a prediction about temperature? What kind of air mass causes hot, humid weather? What kind of weather does a cold front bring? How is a warm front shown on a weather map? Hand out expert/character parts Begin forming groups No Quiz Friday Big Idea: Students will learn how to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators by replacing given fraction with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of a fractions with like denominators. Essential questions or phrases Fractions Denominators Equivalent Fractions Understand the process of making fractions equitant to each other. Understand that numerators will only be added or subtracted and not multiplied. Math Quiz: Friday (10 questions) Science: No Quiz This week we are going to be welcoming the project of the Walk Through the American Revolution, where history comes to life! This presentation is designed to allow your child to actively participate in an exciting retelling of our nation’s beginnings. Goals this week are: Understand the history involved in this Project. Unfold the layout and requirement for each student. In order for students to do higher level thinking in mathematics students must know their math facts and multiplication. I will be testing students on their multiplication as well as their weekly math tests. When a student has passed the multiplication test, there will no longer be a need for them to continue to take the multiplication tests.
