ROSEDALE & DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL, HORTICULTURAL
AND INDUSTRIAL SOCIETY
The objects of the Society are:to promote and stimulate interest in Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial activities and the rural heritage of Rosedale and District - to hold an Annual Exhibition of Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial produce and
such activities as reflect the rural heritage of Rosedale and District.
The annual membership subscription for the Society is £5.00 payable to the Treasurer by the last Saturday in July. This
subscription shall entitle the member to one ticket of admission to the Annual Exhibition.
Subscribers of £10.00 and upwards shall be deemed Patrons of the Society and be entitled to a Patron’s badge and two
tickets.
Subscribers of £20.00 and upwards shall be deemed Vice-Presidents of the Society and be entitled to a Vice-Presidents
badge, four tickets.
The Annual Meeting of Members of the Society will be held in January of each year. Notice of date, time and venue
will be given. Subscriptions are entitled to a 10% discount if paid by Saturday 15th July 2017.
RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE ANNUAL EXHIBITION
1.
All exhibits must be bona-fide property of the exhibitor, all plants to be shown as grown in pots,
which must be clean and free from any private mark.
2.
That three persons be appointed by the Committee to protest on their behalf against any person
infringing Rule 1.
3.
That in case a protest be made against any person infringing any of this Society’s Rules, the person
protesting must give notice before 4.00 p.m. on the day of exhibition to the Secretary in writing and
pay the sum of £10, which shall be forfeited if the objection be not sustained. Prize Money shall be
withheld pending investigation and if the charge be proved the exhibitor shall forfeit all premiums
and be dealt with as the Committee decide. The decision of the Committee shall be final and binding
in all questions or disputes of any kind whatsoever arising out of or in connection with this Society
and Show. All persons entering exhibits in this Show shall by such act be deemed to have agreed with
the Committee to refer such questions or disputes to that Committee and it is on this distinct
understanding that entries are accepted.
4.
That all specimens for exhibition without fail be brought into the tent staged and ticketed for the
classes in which they intend to complete by 10.00 a.m. prompt and remain until 4.30 p.m.
This rule will be strictly enforced.
5.
That the Judges have power to withhold prizes from specimens they may deem insufficient merit.
6.
That the Committee reserve the power to withhold any prize in any class if for any reason they
consider it necessary.
7.
That all entries must be made on entry forms on or before 9th August 2017. Entry forms must be filled
up and returned to the Secretary. No entry form will be accepted unless accompanied with Entrance Money.
8.
That exhibitors provide their own bowls, dishes and stands.
9.
That the Prize Money be paid by the Treasurer and Secretary except in undecided protests. Time and
place of distribution to be posted in the tents.
10. That the Committee will not be responsible for damage to or loss of exhibits, but all possible care
will be taken to prevent accidents to them. All entries received will be subject to these conditions.
11. That the judges commence their duties at 10.30 a.m. (in tents). Hunters 9.00 a.m.
12. That during the judging of the Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Exhibits no one except the
Secretary and those appointed shall be allowed in the tent or to interfere with the judges in any way.
13. Exhibitors whose entry fees do not exceed £5.00 will be charged admission into the show.
14. All cups and trophies to be held for one year only.
15. The Committee reserve the right to refuse entries for any reason whatsoever.
16. Local Classes include residents of Rosedale, Hartoft, Farndale, Cropton, Hutton-le-Hole,
Appleton-le-Moors, Lastingham and Spaunton except where otherwise stated.
17. The Committee reserves the right to cancel or amalgamate any class if circumstances dictate.
18. A copy of the health and safety policy of the show is available at the secretary’s tent
19. Any Trade Stand wishing to use LPG or generators on the field should make themselves aware of the
society’s health and safety policy. No other users are permitted.

PROPERTY OR EQUIPMENT WHILE ON THE SHOWGROUND.
