Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo was
founded in 1952. It is the only educational
institution in BiH, which is a member of
EFMD and AACSB. EFSA has earned the
accreditation of the Austrian Agency for
Quality Assurance – AQA. At this point, the
EFSA is the only university in Bosnia and
Herzegovina, which owns the European
accreditation, which means that this institution
and its diplomas recognized in the European
educational space. The 2009th, EFSA was
honored with Eduniversal Palmes Certificate. This certification highlights the growing success of
these institutions at the international level and puts the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo HU
1000 best business schools in the world. According to Webometrics - in, a system that evaluates
universities around the world to web activities, our college is ranked a respectable 390th place
among the 400 best business schools in the world.
The Country
Bosnia and Herzegovina sometimes called BosniaHerzegovina, abbreviated BiH or simply Bosnia, is a
country in Southeastern Europe. Its capital and largest
city is Sarajevo. Bosnia and Herzegovina is regionally
and internationally renowned for its natural beauty
and cultural heritage inherited from six historical
civilizations, its cuisine, winter sports, its eclectic and
unique music, architecture and its festivals, some of
which are the largest and most prominent of their kind
in Southeastern Europe. The country is home to three
ethnic groups or, officially, constituent peoples, a
term unique for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosniaks
are the largest group of the three, with Serbs second
and Croats third.

The City
Sarajevo is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and
Herzegovina. Sarajevo is the leading political, social
and cultural center of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and
its region-wide influence in politics, education,
entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts
contribute to its status as Bosnia and Herzegovina's
biggest and most important economic center. The
city used to be famous for its traditional cultural and
religious diversity, with adherents of Orthodoxy,
Islam, Judaism and Catholicism and coexisting there
for centuries. Sarajevo is also Bosanska metropola
due to being the most important and influential city
in the whole country. Sarajevo is one of the fastest
developing cities in the region. Various new modern
buildings have been built, most significantly the
Bosmal City Center, BBI Centar and the Avaz Twist Tower, which is the tallest skyscraper in the
Balkans. Baščaršija is Sarajevo’s old bazaar and the historical and cultural center of the city.
Baščaršija is located on the north bank of the river Miljacka, in the municipality of Stari Grad.
