LIANG SICHENG CUP The 1st Global Architectural Design Competition Hometown of Overseas Chinese Introduction Guangdong is the largest hometown of overseas Chinese. their hometown for foreign countries. Our ancestors left They went overseas to new horizons for studying, working or living. However, they missed their hometown and wished to serve it by all means. When they subsequently returned to their hometown, they brought with them overseas culture, new knowledge or technology and modern living ideas as well as their offsprings. Based in the conclusiveness of Guangdong culture, Jiangmen’s architectural culture is gradually formed, which combines traditional culture and nature with innovation and absorbs both western and eastern philosophy. Apparently, the unique Lingnan style architecture of humanism has also been transformed by the returning overseas Chinese. It is gradually influenced by their inception of western architectural culture. As is known, Jiangmen is the first hometown of overseas Chinese in China. There are more than 3, 000 Diaolou as architectural treasure with the integration of western and eastern culture and the world non-materials cultural heritage.
