Downy Blonde Hair Duo

Downy Blonde Hair Duo
This is a fantastic product designed to make it simple for you to create baby fine hairs around the
babies hairline and forehead as seen on newborns. BONUS mini Blonde downy hair painting guide.
This is a very versatile product which can be used in conjunction with two other colours to produce a
downy blonde hair which looks soft and fine.
How to use this product
Hairline and forehead – Using a syringe place 1 ml of distilled water into a bowl then add 15 drops
of Downy blonde hair 1. (lightest colour)
Note this consistency should show barely-there fine hair that you can paint around the hairline. If you
wish for it to be darker, add more paint!
Use fine short strokes and curve them to give a natural look, please refer to below example to see
where you can paint fine hairs.
Eyebrows – place 1 ml of distilled water into a bowl then add 15 drops of Downy blonde hair 1.
(lightest colour)
Note Colour strength will be dependent on how light you want your eyebrows to be. Add more water
for lighter eyebrows and less for darker, it’s that simple!
Light eyebrows Using a syringe place 1ml of distilled water into a bowl, then add 15 drops of downy
blonde 1 (lightest colour). Use this mix to paint fine eyebrow hairs.
Once you are happy, use colour 2, to paint a few hair fine strokes to add depth. Using 20 drops of
downy blonde 2 (darkest colour) add more paint if you want the depth to be more noticeable.
Note Start light, it is easier to add more paint that to remove your work. You can build the layers
using a darker strength the second coat.
Dark eyebrows – Use the same method above but use the paint in its pure form.
Bonus mini blonde downy hair painting guide.
Downy Blonde hair was created to achieve a barely there look around the temple, forehead etc. I
soon realised the versatility of this colour and how it can achieve a natural fine barely their fuzz hair
colour when painted in layers using several other key colour combinations.
This is a guide that will teach you the colour mixes I used to paint blonde hair with additional tips.
1) FIRST COLOUR MIX Using a syringe place 1ml of distilled water into a bowl, then add 20 drops of
downy blonde 1 (lightest colour). Use this mix to paint fine short hairs. Direction your short strokes
away from the crown. Give the curve and do not make them uniformed, that does not look natural.
2) SECOND COLOUR MIX Mix half downy blonde 1 and half downy blonde 2. Do not add water, use
at full strength, Now use this colour to paint every 3rd or 4th hair, this is going to be the gaps in the
hair, so it needs to be dark. Continue to paint hairs, creating joins at the ends of the fine hairs. This is
in preparation for the next coat.
Stop there for a soft look or continue to add Further depth if you are feeling more confident with your
painting.
3) THIRD COLOUR MIX Use full strength downy hair blonde 1 (lightest colour) With this coat you will
be going over those joins with fine strokes to build up to nice natural forms that are found in babies
hair.
4) FORTH COLOUR MIX Use full strength Downy blonde 2 (Darkest colour) this will highlight the
gaps. You don’t need to add may strands.
Remember practice makes perfect. Look at hair examples, surround yourself with them so you can
fill your mind with how the hair flows. I feel that if you have been rooting hair for some time and
experimented with maps that your understand of hair flow is perfect for hair painting.
I usually go back over the hair with the third colour to define my blonde hair movement. Adding fine
hairs (whispies) around edges to add more realism. I look forward to seeing what you create!
Happy painting!
