cooperation with customers, who are
working for the pharmaceutical
industry. Their highest demands are
our standards.
The Herzog + Heymann Outsert
Systems are logically and clearly
arranged.

They are characterised by:

Approved folding technology within
the first and second folding unit with
up to 16 folding pockets from series
KL 112.1 and with up to 18 folding
pockets from series M 8.40 offers the
user unknown product variants.
The radial folding roller adjustment is
still the best guarantee for excellent
folding quality with high capacity.
If sheet inspection, hhs QS-Systems
for code reading, waterscoring and
glue inspection, if rejection, flexibly
usable parallel knife folding unit
XP 250.1, the vertical delivery unit
XP-D or the labeller XL-100 for
closing products – all units are
harmonised with each other.

For the production of Outserts, the
1st and 2nd folding unit contains the
following special modification:
Glued Outsert products can be
produced in connection with suitable
pocket folding units.
1st folding unit:
Pharma scoring
2nd folding unit:
Folding rollers with 80 shore
cover.
Side-lay modification for small
and thick products.
Pocket modification for small
and thick products.
Optional available are glue control
and rejection for missing glue.
Glued Outsert product.
Parallel knife with two hhs glue nozzles and
lateral product alignment.
The parallel knife folding unit
XP 250.1 is also necessary for the
last fold in case of production of
labelled outsert products.
Maximum product variants, short
set-up times, high availabality and
persistence are the standards of
the Herzog + Heymann folding
machines.
At production of glued instruction
sheets, so-called Outserts, patents
have to be considered.
Flat pile or round pile . . .
. . . why not from reel?

Alternative flat pile feeder
The round pile feeder is used for
constantly high editions. For medium
editions, the machine dead-time,
due to the reloading of paper is
not so important. In this case, a flat
pile feeder would be recommended.

hhs Waterscoring
For reducing the product volume of
thick products, waterscoring will be
used within the 1st folding unit.
The quantity of heads is depending
on the number of foldings in the
following folding units.
If using waterscoring, niro-folding
rollers are necessary in the 1st
folding unit.
The nozzles can be controlled by the
camera system Xtend2.

Less space requirement also argues
for the flat pile feeder.

At use of the hhs camera system Xtend2, the
long feeding table SBT 52 long or 72 long is
necessary.
The model F 465 is convenient for
the working widths of 35 and
45 cm. For 52 cm working width,
the F 535 must be used.

DIGITAL is cost-effective:

Additional product variants by
use of plough-fold and split- and

single photocells are fixed to the most important

of the knife and at outrun.
Rejection
With the transfer unit ejection
device in the middle, products will
be ejected, which are detected by
the code reader or the sheet inspection device as faulty. So no dead
time for removal of nonconforming
products will be generated. The output of the machine will be increased.
Labeller XL-100 for closing
products
The new labeller XL-100 for closing
products overtakes the folding
product with the in advance closed
folding edge into the belt guide.
For labeling, the product will be
turned and runs with the open edges
against a provided adhesive label.
The projecting endings of the label
will be turned over and pressed on.
With its technical capacity of
approx. 12.000 products/h the new
labeller XL-100 for closing products
provides new operation areas.

The parallel knife XP 250.1 is equipped
with four rollers. This results in better folding
quality.

The necessity to glue two single
Outserts on each other to have very
thick Outserts belongs to the past.

position, and the new Herzog +
Heymann labeller XL-100 for closing

Half fold
products
Half fold products are produced
inside packing systems. Before
dispensing into the packaging, they
will be folded as required by the
covering box.
Because the units of the Outsert
system are mobile from the second
folding unit, this second unit also can
be used with an additional mobile
feeder for half fold products.
For the blank production, a second
pair of rear cutter shafts should be
used in the folding unit for smooth
blank stripping.
Delivery occurs by a flat track
delivery unit 701.
The trend is towards Outserts,
because the expensive packing
systems run trouble-free and therefore, expensive dead-time can be
avoided.

Each of the two parallel knife folding
units XP 250.1 in tandem position
does one fold. So the 2nd pocket
folding unit M 8.40 OUT only needs
to be equipped with two folding
pockets. This procedure allows very
thick folded end-products.
If only one parallel knife folding unit
XP 250.1 shall be used, the 2nd
pocket folding unit must be equipped
with 4 folding pockets.
4 2nd folding unit M 8.40 OUT with two
folding pockets. The sheet deflector is turned
upwards for folding.
The 1st folding unit can be used with
widths of 35 cm, 45 cm and 52 cm
from series KL 112.1. The KL 112.1
is available with up to 16 folding
pockets.

The requirement for more folding
pockets achieves the new folding
machine M 8.40 with up to
18 folding pockets.
The length of 1.400 mm of the
feeding table is necessary, if the hhs
camera system Xtend² shall be used.
The approx. 1000 mm long sheet
requires enough time for accurate
alignment at the side-lay, before
code reading. Inaccurate alignment
would cause faulty measurements.

Technology
that tells its own tale
Radial folding roller
adjustment
If due to the folding section, the gap
between the upper movable and the
lower fixed roller grows wider, the
upper movable roller moves radially
around the bottom roller.
The material keeps the guidance.
Therefore, even with 16 or
18 pockets with high speed, an
excellent folding quality can be
guaranteed.
Radial folding roller adjustment within all
folding units.
High Grip / Less static roller cover.
Roller cover
Along the whole width of the
folding roller, the paper is grabbed
by the special Less-Static roller cover
inside the notches of the metal and
the slightly higher rubber segments.
Advantage: Less roller pressure and
protection of the material and the
machine.
Complicated paper, especially light
weight paper can be folded without
problems.
Central roller adjustment
Short set-up time: Roller adjustment by
underlaying of paper, centrally arranged.
Folding rollers with high grip through plastic
segments. The grooves are also filled with
plastic.

The roller adjusting elements are
central and clearly arranged and
