to secure this greenspace.
Natural Heritage Areas are
now protecting 13 rare species
and one natural community of
concern. Under our ownership,
improved maintenance and
management will produce longterm improvements to the health
of the property, its forest, the
riparian zones of Walnut Creek
and ultimately Lake Erie, creating
suitable habitat for native wildlife.

The mission of the Asbury Woods Partnership is to preserve Asbury
Woods and provide all members of the community with meaningful
environmental, educational and recreational experiences that inspire
a greater sense of environmental awareness, sustainability and
stewardship.
Asbury Woods, a 205 acre greenspace of forests, fields, wetlands,
pathways, and trails in the middle of a highly developed area of
Millcreek Township, will be preserved and properly maintained
through proven environmental stewardship practices in perpetuity.

REPLACE THE BOARDWALK
The 25-year-old boardwalk is in need of an upgrade for both
safety and accessibility. Once complete, all individuals will be able
to experience full accessibility with the expansion of the entire
boardwalk to a width of 8 feet to allow for wheelchair travel in
both directions. Also a new wetland science pavilion will give our
educators better access to study this environment as part of our
award-winning E-STEM curriculum.
THE WOODS...
Inspiring the Future
We hear from many of our visitors how hard it is to tell where
our property begins and ends. A robust marketing program will
be launched to inform our guests of the comprehensive variety
of educational and recreational opportunities that we provide.
As part of this effort, new signage marking the boundaries of our
property along with entrance signs and trailside interpretive signs
will be installed to help enhance the visitor’s experience.
