Transport Concession Card for Asylum Seekers Information for Applicants Applying for your card Complete the Asylum Seeker Application for a Transport Concession Card form to obtain your Transport Concession Card, issued by the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI). You must always travel with a valid, approved concession card – the Transport Concession Card is your proof of entitlement to travel on a concession fare on public transport in South Australia. Eligibility criteria To be eligible for a Transport Concession Card your principal place of residence must be in South Australia and you must: be 17 years of age or older; AND be receiving case management and/ or support from an organisation contracted by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection to provide services under the Status Resolution Support Service (SRSS) program; AND have or be applying for a Bridging Visa E; OR be living in the community under residence determination arrangements. Organisations currently approved to deliver services under the SRSS program in South Australia are: Australian Migrant Resource Centre; Australian Red Cross; and Life Without Barriers. If you receive certain Centrelink payments, such as a Newstart allowance you will need to complete a general Application for Transport Concession Card form. Transport Concession Card for Asylum Seekers – Information for applicants | July 2016 1 If you hold a Pensioner Concession Card, or any other card approved by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure that entitles the holder to transport concessions, you are not eligible for a Transport Concession Card, but can purchase concession fares when carrying your Pensioner Concession, or other approved, card. What you need to do Step 1: Complete Section A of the ‘Asylum Seeker Application for a Transport Concession Card’ form. Read Section B, and sign Section D. You MUST sign the authority and declaration in Section D; Step 2: Take the form to your SRSS provider; and Step 3: Ask your SRSS provider to complete Section C. What your SRSS provider needs to do Your SRSS provider needs to complete Section C and: verify that you meet the eligibility criteria for a Transport Concession Card; and have an authorised representative complete and sign the Section B declaration. Your SRSS provider will ensure the application form is complete and either scan a copy of the completed form and email the form to [email protected], or post the completed form to: Concessions Reply Paid 292 Adelaide SA 5001 No postage stamp is required. What happens next? Your application will be processed by DCSI and, if approved, your card will be posted to you within approximately 10 working days. How long is the card valid for? Your Transport Concession Card is valid for one year from the date of issue. After that, if you still meet the eligibility criteria, you will automatically receive a replacement card by mail. Your Transport Concession Card can only be used by you and is not transferable to others. The Transport Concession Card remains the property of DCSI. Lost, stolen or damaged Transport Concession Cards can only be replaced by contacting DCSI. Originals, if later found, must be returned to DCSI. You must advise DCSI as soon as possible if you change your address, to enable DCSI to reissue your Transport Concession Card. It is your responsibility to ensure you continue to meet the ongoing eligibility requirements for your Transport Concession Card and if you cease to be eligible the Transport Concession Card must be returned to DCSI.
