AARHUS BASKETBALL FESTIVAL - TOURNAMENT RULES 2017 AGE GROUPS: Boys/Girls U18 Boys/Girls U16 Boys/Girls U14 Boys/Girls U12 Boys/Girls U10 1999-00 2002-01 2004-03 2006-05 2008-07 The games will be played according to the FIBA / Danish Basketball-Federation rules with the following remarks: Tournament form The teams are divided into groups where each team plays the other teams (round robin). The top two teams in each group will qualify for the playoffs - the other teams will play the B-playoff. In the playoffs (and B-playoffs) games will be played in accordance with the cup format. However, if necessary, other principles can be used. In ranking teams in the groups we will use the following criteria: 1) Number of game points (0 or 2 in each game) 2) Game points (0 or 2) in games between teams having the same number of game points 3) Game score in these games 4) Game score in all games 5) Draw Playing time All games are played 4x7 min. effective time. The half-time break is two minutes. In age group U10 games are played with running time, except the last two minutes played effective time Game officials Each team (from U14) participating in the tournament must take part in three games as game officials doing the scoreboard, fouls registration and timekeeping. Plan will be made by the tournament office. Roster The team roster must be filled out before the tournament starts and a copy must be given to the officiating table ten minutes before tip off at the latest. If this is not respected or a team is not ready at the official tip off time, the team will lose 0 - 20. Players A maximum of 12 players can be used in each game. Only players on the team roster at the beginning of the tournament can be used. Each player can play on two teams, but of course not in a younger age group than the player belongs to. In case of injuries, the club can apply for an exemption, in which case the club needs the acceptance of the tournament office. Each player can only play for one team in each age group. It will not be taken into consideration that some players might play for more than one team, when the tournament schedule is made. Dispensation Dispensation to play in a younger age group (One age group lower) can be given, if the club has contacted the official tournament jury before the Festival begins, and have shown proof or good reason why such a dispensation should be given. Such proof is for example: a already given dispensation from their Federation. Dispensations will be handed out in written form upon arrival. The dispensation should be shown upon request without hesitation. Time-out Each team has a maximum of one time-out in each half. 24 seconds There is no 24-second shot clock. The 24 second rule will be upheld by the referee. Fouls A player fouls out on his 4th foul. Team fouls after normal rules (free-throw shooting after fourth foul). Substitution Substitutions can be made at any time, also during the game in all age groups. Substitutions must be made outside of the court. Too many players on the court at the same time will receive a warning. The Second time this happens the coach will receive a technical foul. Full Court Press In all age groups, full court press is not allowed when one team is ahead by 20 points or more. Please respect this rule. Special rules u12 All games are played on smaller courts and lower baskets/rims Games are played 4 on 4 Made shots from outside the paint counts for 3 point. Only man-to-man defense is allowed. Trapping is not allowed. Help defense is allowed but two defenders cannot guard the same offensive player. Only half court defense is allowed when one team is ahead by +20 points or more. The back court violation rule is not in use. It is allowed to use screens Free-throws are taken a ½ meter closer than normal. The 3 seconds rule is used, but with 5 seconds allowed Special rules u10 All games are played on smaller courts and lower baskets/rims Only man-to-man defense is allowed. Trapping is not allowed. Help defense is allowed but two defenders cannot guard the same offensive player. Only half court defense is allowed when one team is ahead by +20 points or more. 1 point is given if a foul is committed while shooting. The ball is given back to the offense at the sideline. If the shot is successful, 3 points are awarded and defense takes the ball out on baseline. No personal fouls are given. The back court violation rule is not in use. It is allowed to use screens The 3 seconds rule is used, but with 5 seconds allowed Games are played 4 on 4 In case of a tie In the preliminary rounds the game will be decided by "sudden death". The ball will be tipped off at the middle of the court. In the play-offs, one extra period of 2 minutes will be played. The ball will be tipped off at the middle of the court. If the score is tied after these 2 minutes, the game will be decided by "sudden death". The ball will be tipped off at the middle of the court. In extra periods and sudden death, team fouls continue to count from the 2nd half. In the U10 group the referees are advised to "coach" the players more than following the rules. This to encourage the players to have fun and love basketball! We advice the coaches, managers and parents to do the same! Uniforms Each team must bring two sets of uniforms in different colors. The team noted first in the official tournament schedule must change uniforms if the two teams are wearing jerseys in the same color (referees decision). Tournament jury An official tournament jury will treat protests and disqualifications. Protest If a team wants to submit a protest, they shall tell the referee at the time of the incident and a written complaint must be made to the tournament office at the latest one hour after the game has ended including a protest fee of DKK 500. This fee will be reimbursed if the protest is accepted. Ball size (according to DBBF ruling) Size 7: Boys U16, U18. Size 6: Boys U14, Girls U16, U18. Size 5: Girls U14, Boys and girls U12, Boys and girls U10. The courts The basketball courts are placed in and around the Sportscenter. The courts are mainly meant for games. Therefore you are not allowed to use the courts for practice etc. that can disturb the games. Any notifications from referees, officials and staff must be followed by everyone. Be advised that unfortunately there is no 3-point line on court: Hal2L, Hal3L and Hal3L2. We do apologize for this inconvenience. Basketballs We do not supply balls for warm-up and practice. The teams are asked to bring their own balls for this purpose. Basketball can NOT be borrowed at the secretariat! Prizes Medals and prizes will be handed out as follows: 1. Place: Team cup, medals and T-shirts 2. Place: Team cup and medals 3. Place: Team cup and medals Winner of the B-finale: Team cup Please note that there are only medals and T-shirts for 12 players and 2 coaches for each finalist teams. Prize ceremony Ceremony involves winners of 1, 2 and 3 place and the winner of the B-finals. The ceremony is directly after the A-final in each age group. Coaches and managers are advice to ensure that relevant teams are present directly after the A-final. Most Valuable Player MVP will be elected by Bakken Bears players.
