ALL ABOUT THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR BY:MADY CALHOUN All about the allies during the american revolution. Allies are people or countries fighting at war on the same side against the same enemy. Also an ally is someone who comes in and helps one side and helps in the war. There were a lot of allies in the american revolution and that is what helped the colonial army win the battles. The allies decided to help because the French was angry that they lost so many territories in the French and Indian war. So the French decided to go find more soldiers. When Benjamin Franklin went to France he went with Silas Deane and Dr. Arthur Lee. They called the new soldiers allies. Then they brought them back they called the allies secret like they were trying to hide them and they didn’t want anybody to know about the allies because they were secret. Friedrich Von Steuben, a german soldier helped train the allies at Valley Forge. After the were trained they went to war. Now the continental army had powerful allies. The battle of Yorktown was the last big battle and they had won with the help of their allies. The Life of an ally (story). When Benjamin Franklin came to look for allies I was scared I didn’t want to go to war so early I was only 18 years old and when he came to find them my mom had already told him that I would be happy to go off to war. I can’t believe what my own mother had just said. Before I knew it had said goodbye and I and I was on a ship to america. On the the ship from France to america I got a uniform. On the ship I saw one of the boys in my neighborhood. And I walked up to him and said “hello did your mom send you here too”. “Yep” he said. Knew it. I could guess from the way he looked and he looked, panicked. And then the ship hand got there and we got of I was scared because right after the camp with Friedrich Von Steuben we were off to war for the most part I wasn't listening to Friedrich Von Steuben because I was too worried. A lot later the war was over and I was alive along with that other boy from my neighborhood. I was mad at my mom but I knew that she would be happy to see me after. All about the Valley Forge Camp. Valley Forge is in Pennsylvania. And when they were training or getting trained it was winter time and they had to train in the brodel winter. When they were there they didn’t get beds to sleep on or houses they had to make there own out of log. So basicly they did this in the middle of know where and on the first day if they wanted somewhere to sleep they had to build their own log cabin. When they went to Valley Forge they went there because it was his idea for the whole camp thing. And the whole reason he did it was because he wanted the allies to help the colonial army to look better and be better and be like the English. And most of the allies ignored Friedrich Von Steuben. But when they did something wrong or didn’t know what to do they had to do a punishment. The punishment was they would give you a scare so people would know that you did something wrong but they wouldn’t hurt the ally because then he was no good to be a soldier. All about what George Washington was feeling when this was happening. George Washington was a survivor in the French and Indian war so he was pretty relieved that he was alive. Then just after that he elected commander of the continental army and he accepted. And the Colonial Army was made up of a poorly armed army and they like this weren’t ready to go to war like this. So George Washington wanted to help them and after that they were off to war. But still they weren’t ready but the war had already began and there was nothing that he could do after there were so many casualties he knew that he had to do something. So he decided to get more soldiers and he called them allies. But they were a secret and he sent Benjamin Franklin to go get more soldiers call allies. After the allies came from Valley Forge George Washington was so relieved. All about what Bernardo De Galvez did to help during the American Revolution. Bernardo De Galvez helped in the Revolutionary war by loaning thousands of dollars to Oliver Pollock and by doing this Oliver Pollock was able to ship tons of ammunition and supplies down the Mississippi river to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where the war was going on. And then the Colonial Army had enough supplies and ammunition for the war. He also helped by when France convinced spain to join the war he captured british forts at Baton Rouge Louisiana and Natchez, Mississippi and took 1,000 prisoners. Author’s Page I think that the allies helped a lot by going to fight in war and help the war and they help them win. But what I was wondering is why did they need the allies? What I mean by that is why didn’t they just send the original soldiers to Valley Forge because George Washington said that the colonial army was made up of poorly armed men so why did the allies get trained why not the original soldiers go to get trained there.
