Bonjour chers parents,
Welcome to a new year in French Immersion at Signal Hill Elementary. We look forward to working
together to support and celebrate your child’s academic and personal growth this school year. This
year, we will once again be collaborating to teach math, science and social studies. Each student will
have both of us as teachers. The information below is a brief outline of important classroom
information.
Agenda: All students are expected to use their agenda daily. You may choose to purchase an agenda for
$8, or you may decide to use an alternate book as an agenda. It is your child’s responsibility to show you
his/her agenda each night, and to follow through with what has been written. As well, it is up to your
child to make sure that their teacher reads any notes that may have been in the agenda by you.
Beschrelle and dictionary: We would like to remind all parents that students need to have a Beschrelle,
and a dictionary in class at all times. They will be used daily. Please make sure that your child has these
materials available to them.
Tests: Students will write a vocabulary test every Friday. Students are expected to study for these tests.
These, and all future tests, must be signed by parents.
Seesaw: Seesaw is a way for students to exhibit their accomplishments. All parents have been invited to
sign up to see their child’s Seesaw account. It is a way for parents to see their son/daughter’s work. Feel
free to encourage your child by leaving messages.
Indoor shoes: Your child is expected to change his/her shoes when entering the school. These shoes can
be used for PE if they are running shoes.
Clothes for PE: Your child is expected to bring a gym clothes to school on PE days. This must include a
water bottle, a change of clothes and running shoes.
Personal devices: Personal devices are not permitted at school and must remain in the student’s school
bag at all times. Personal devices will be confiscated and must be retrieved by a parent from the office.
If you need to contact your child, please be aware that he/she will not be able to reply until after school.
If there is an emergency, please contact the office.
