It was such a special treat to spend some time together watching our little ones and their friends interact with some very cute critters in a relaxed and friendly farm environment. I think the horse ride was the penultimate experience from all accounts! Thanks to all involved with the Master BBQ, I hear a tidy sum was raised to fund resources for the children. Our hardworking funding raising events team has pulled off another successful event and we have surpassed our target for this year well and truly. We are not stopping there though as there are plans to take a stall at the Stones Corner Christmas Market to spread to good word about the kindy and hopefully raise some more funds to support it! By now we are all making preparations with our children for their next big milestone that is - Prep 2016! It is a very big transition for all of us and we are all the better off for living this year of kindy life at one of the most excellent kindys around - it has given us the best preparation for the adventure that is about to unfold. It’s not over yet however - so cherish these last six or so weeks they will pass quickly! Thanks to all the parents that helped out on the day, and to the staff from Trevena Glen Farm for such a lovely experience. Staff commented on what a lovely bunch of children the Stones Corner Kindy group were, and welcomed them back for their monthly Open Day which includes lots of farm activities and a sausage sizzle. Check out the website for more details – www.grookea.odoo.com. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped out at our Masters BBQ on the September holidays. This presents a great opportunity to: o Build relationships with fellow parents and children in your community; o Provide new and unique play opportunities for your children; o Facilitate new friendships for parents and children; o Build an understanding of a Kindy environment through interaction with our own staff; and, o Prepare your family for the transition to Kindy. If you are interested, please email Lucy at [email protected] Whilst we have great age appropriate toys for our Kindergarten children, we will need to gather some toys for younger children attending Kindy Play. As the kindy year winds up, the Prep year will be here before we know it. With the lengthy summer holidays ahead, it is a great time to start thinking about the all-important ‘Getting ready for school’. Two Australian picture books are recommended for both dealing with the topic of starting school. Between them they lay out all of the fears, excitement, trepidation and curiosities of this whole new world. Both books are highly recommended. Great Christmas presents! ‘Starting school’ Jane Godwin and Anna Walker 2013 ‘My first day at school’ Meredith Costain and Michelle Mackintosh, 2013 From the same team that brought us ‘All through the year’ and ‘Today we have no plans’, ‘Starting school’ follows the ups and downs of five young children as they start Prep. This delightful picture book details the emotions and experiences of four very different children as they start their journey on the first day at Prep.
