Who Made The Cookies In Your House

Welcome to Reading Roundtable™!
We are very excited to have the opportunity to present this activity to you. Reading Roundtable™
was developed from a concept of Alan B. Stevens, Ph.D. We at the Myers Research Institute
(MRI) of Menorah Park Center for Senior Living collaborated with Dr. Stevens on further
developing the original concept into a unique activity. We have selected and adapted topics
and stories for Reading Roundtable™ to make them interesting, enjoyable and accessible for
individuals with memory deficits. An important feature of Reading Roundtable™ is the layout
of the material, which we developed and tested through research in group activity settings at
Menorah Park Center for Senior Living. The end result is an activity that we are confident you
and your participants will enjoy. We were amazed to see the discussion and reminiscence that
these stories generate, and we know you will be too.
Also available:

The chewy, gooey
cookies tasted so
good. We can thank
Ruth Wakefield for
this pleasant memory.
She gave us the recipe
for the chocolate
chip cookie. It is the
top selling cookie in
America today.

Ruth found a
chocolate bar given to
her by Andrew Nestle
of the well-known
chocolate company.
She cut it into tiny bits
and added them to the
cookie dough.

Mr. Nestle struck
a deal with Ruth.
He got the okay to
print the Toll House
Cookie recipe on the
wrappers. Ruth got all
of the chocolate she
could use for the rest
of her life. Wouldn’t
that be great?

Can you believe
people make cookie
dough just to eat it
raw? You can even
buy cookie dough
covered in chocolate.
Cookie dough ice
cream has also
become very popular.
