HEAD LICE
It is that time of year again, when
children across all schools seem to be
contracting nits/head lice. Some of our
parents are understandably frustrated
about recurrence of head lice in their
children, despite paying out for
expensive treatments. I only wish we
could go back to the days of the Nit
Nurse, who would go through each child's
hair to check. However, these services
have been subject to the usual budget
cuts and have not been available for
some time now. Please can I ask all
parents to treat their children's hair
over the Easter Break, so that we can
start afresh? Meanwhile, I am advised
that combing through a child's hair using
hair conditioner and a nit comb is a cheap
and effective way to treat nits. A few
drops of tea tree oil on the hair also
helps. If you do receive a letter home, it
means that children in your child's class
have head lice or eggs, in this case please
can you treat your child's hair THAT
EVENING? If you don't all agree to this,
even if it is just one person, it starts the
cycle over again. Having head lice is
nothing to do with having dirty hair; in
fact lice like clean hair. I know it is a
nuisance and we will do all we can to help
and support. I would like to thank one
of our parents for bringing this issue to
my attention, along with some useful
suggestions.

YEAR 5/6 ASSEMBLY

Last week, Year 5/6 performed their
Ancient Greece assembly to parents and
carers. Despite a very busy week with
limited rehearsal time, the children
spoke, danced and sang like
professionals! Everyone in the audience
learnt lots of new facts and thoroughly
enjoyed the play. Well done Year 5/6
team!

The children in FS2 performed their
assembly for their parents and carers
based on their theme learning of
Traditional Tales. The children had
great fun acting, singing and signing. The
parents were challenged to guess, after
three clues, which traditional tale the
children would perform next. The Wolf
was scary, the Troll was hungry and the
Gingerbread Man gave everyone the run
around! Everyone went home singing
“The Big Bad Wolf” song. Well done
children you were GREAT.

I would like to make it absolutely clear
that the school does not make the rules
for unauthorised absence; it is a
Government matter and is common to all
maintained schools and academies. We
are given a strict set of criteria to work
from and I have to treat every case
fairly and without favour. From time to
time this can cause ill feeling, which is a
terrible shame for all concerned. Please
pop in for a chat if you need any
clarification. Thank you for your
understanding in this matter and for
supporting our great attendance record.
As a result, your children are thriving.
YEAR 3/4 ASSEMBLY
Parents and carers enjoyed a fantastic
performance by the Year 3/4 team
yesterday. Focusing on their theme
”The Ancient Egyptians”, the children
performed a variety of songs, dances,
drama pieces and shared their animation.
Well done Year 3/4 team, we are very
proud of you.
PARENT CRAFT SESSION
EASTER THEME
The Nursery children had a wonderful
time celebrating Easter with their
parents and carers this week. They had
lots of fun making bunny ears, icing
homemade Easter biscuits, decorating an
Easter picture frame of the children
with the Easter bunny and even going on
an Easter egg hunt! Thank you to
everyone who attended the event. The
children were delighted to share this
experience with their loved ones.
6TH Plymouth Company of The Girls
Brigade, invites you
you to a special Holy Week event at St
Paul’s Church, Efford on Monday 21st
March from 6.00-7.00pm. Enjoy some
craft, games, singing and refreshments.
Take part in the Great Big Egg Hunt. All
welcome including parents.
