The undersigned has the honour to

THAT pursuant to the provisions of section 418 of the "Municipal
Act", being chapter 232 of the "Revised Statutes of 9ritish Columbia,
1948", and pursuant to the provisions of the "Magistrates Act", being
chapter 195 of the "Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1948" and
amendments thereto, and all other powers thereunto enabling, EDWARD
D. STRONGITHARM of Nanaimo, 3.C., 3arrister, he appointed Police
Magistrate in and for the City of Nanaimo to act during the absence
of Police Magistrate L. 3eevor-Potts from the 19th day of December,
1956, to the 20th day of January, 1957, both inclusive, at a salary
based on the rate of $275.00 per month:
AND THAT the said EDWARD D. STRONGITHARM be authorized to
exercise during his said term as actinf,Police Magistrate the
jurisdiction conferred upon a Magistrate by Fart XVI of the "Criminal
Code", being chapter 51 of the "Statutes of Canada, 1953-54":
ANT) THAT pursuant to the "Magistrates Act" being chapter 232 of
the "Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1948" and amendments
thereto, and all other powers thereunto enabling, a Commission under
the Great Seal be issued appointing the said EDWARD D..STRONGITHARM
as Stipendiary Magistrate in and for the Province with power to
exercise on and after the 19th day of December, 1956, up to and
including the 20th day of January, 1957, the jurisdiction conferred
on a Magistrate by Part XVI of the "Criminal Code", being chapter 51
of the "Statutes of Canada, 1953-54":
AND THAT a certified copy of this Minute, if approved, be
forwarded to the Municipal Clerk, Nanaimo, 3.C.
