London to Paris cycle ride
18th – 22nd July
Take on the popular London to Paris cycle challenge.
You will cover 300 miles over 4 days, passing rolling fields and villages of rural Kent,
through the beautiful French countryside before finishing the challenge in Paris in time
to watch the finish of the 100th Tour de France.
Day 1: London – Calais Cycle approx 130km (80 miles)
With an early start from Blackheath Common we pass through
the outskirts of London through Tonbridge, across the hills of
the North Downs to Dover and the coast. We take the ferry to
Calais, having dinner on board, and cycle the short distance to
our hotel in Calais. Night hotel. (Dinner on ferry not included).
Day 2: Calais – Arras Cycle approx 130km (80 miles)
We head south through beautiful French countryside, through villages and small towns, riding past small
War Cemeteries such as at Noordpeene and Gauchin, a reminder of the remarkable history of this region.
The terrain is reasonably flat to begin with but becomes more undulating as we travel south. We spend the
night in Arras. Night hotel.
Day 3: Arras – Compiègne Cycle approx 130 km (80 miles)
This morning we continue south through villages and along quiet undulating French roads to the more
forested region around Compiègne, where we spend the night. This attractive town lies on the banks of the
River Oise. Night hotel.
Day 4: Compiègne – Paris Cycle approx 95 km (60 miles)
Our final day’s cycling takes us southwest, reaching the outskirts
of Paris. Before long our destination and the finish is in sight! We
cycle through the Parisian streets before heading to our hotel
where we get ready to celebrate our achievement by soaking up
the atmosphere of the 100th Tour de France’s
highly-anticipated arrival. Night hotel. (Dinner not included)
Day 5: Paris – London
This last day you are free to explore the city; why not go up the Eiffel Tower or visit renowned attractions
such as the Arc de Triomphe or Notre-Dame Cathedral. You are responsible for getting yourself and your
bags to the Gare du Nord on time for your afternoon Eurostar train back to St Pancras, where you will be
reunited with your bike. (Lunch & dinner not included)
