Member Practices
Beginning in April
All of our members at Duckers Lake Golf Club are invited to our Member Practices. The practice is included
with your membership; there are no additional fees.
Member Practice is a time where we invite you out to the
range and our PGA Professional will be available to help
you with your golf game.
This is a great time to meet with our golf professional
and have him help you with whatever part of your game
you feel needs the most help whether it be driver, irons,
chipping, putting, etc.
Member practices will be conducted twice monthly
from April through September. Dates and times will be
posted in advance beginning in April.

Driving Range Improvements
In 2016 we are going to
liven up the driving range and
the area around the practice
green.
Do you have Gaps?
And how it’s hurting your golf game
Chris Boysel, PGA
As a PGA professional and master
club fitter, I have had the opportunity
to do many full bag fittings for golfers.
One of the biggest problems I see time
after time is that players don’t have the
correct clubs in their bags to match
their games. Not that the length, shaft
flex, or lie angle are incorrect (which
they usually are) but that they have clubs in their bags that
don’t help maximize their potential to score.
Sixty percent of all golf shots are hit within 120 yards of the
green; yet most players give little thought to the different
wedges they carry. The modern pitching wedge is typically
between 44-47 degrees while the sand wedge has a loft between
55-57 degrees. That is a gap of up to 11 degrees and is the
difference between a 9 iron and a strong 7 iron.
All the other irons in a typical set have a 4* difference.
Ideally we should have a 10-15 yard gap between wedges.
Because of this gap, a situation is created where you may hit
your sand wedge 80 yards and your PW 110 yards. Therefore
anything between 85 and 105 yards requires a modified swing
to get the correct distance. Most amateurs don’t have the practice or ability to consistently hit those types of shots. Adding a
wedge around 50 degrees would fill that gap and allow the
golfer to make a full swing without having to make swing compensations.
We plan to increase the number and types of targets
on the driving range, including flags and targets ranging
from 40 yards to over 200 yards. This will allow you to
work on all clubs in your bag from wedges up to driver.
New amenities will include benches to rest and
change your shoes, tee dividers, water buckets to clean
your clubs, water cooler to keep you hydrated, and new
flags on the putting green.
A Driving Range only membership can be purchased
for $400 for the year. Members can add unlimited use
of the driving range for only an additional $150 for the
year. If you pay your membership in full by March 15th
you will receive the driving range for Free!
Chances are you have gaps in your wedges and your long
game as well. Many times in the long game you may even
have two clubs in your bag that go the same distance. We can
remove that club to make room for another club.
Do your game a favor and schedule a time to do a gap fitting,
not only for the wedges but for your entire set!
