Welcome to Evangel Church
If you are worshipping today as a visitor to Evangel, we welcome you in the name of
Christ! You can learn more about Evangel from literature available on the table in the
main church atrium, by going to our web site at www.evangelchurchpca.org, or by giving
us your contact information on a card you will find in the pew rack and putting it in the
offering plate today. Note that audio enhancement units are available; please ask a
deacon or sound technician for assistance. We hope you are blessed as you worship with
us today!
The Morning Service of Worship

Welcome and Announcements

Associate Pastor for Discipleship and Counseling
Preparing Your Heart for Worship
Prelude
*Scriptural Call to Worship (Ephesians 6:10-13)
Minister:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
People:
Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm
against the schemes of the devil.
Minister:
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness,
against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
All:
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able
to resist in the evil day, and having done everything,
to stand firm.
*Ascription of Praise
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing,
were not the right man on our side, the man of God’s own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He-Lord Sabaoth His name,
from age to age the same, and He must win the battle.
>Children in K4 & K5 dismissed to Children’s Church in Room 212.
*Scripture
Selected Scriptures (NASB)
Sermon
Dr. Jeff Lowman
And tho’ this world with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph thro’ us.
The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him-his rage we can endure,
for lo, his doom is sure: one little word shall fell him.
That word above all earthly pow’rs, no thanks to them, abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours thro’ Him Who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also-the body they may kill;
God’s truth abideth still: His kingdom is forever.
Corporate Confess of Sin
Eternal God, we confess that often we have failed to be an obedient church:
we have not done Your will; we have broken Your law;
we have rebelled against Your love; we have not loved our neighbors;
we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray.
Free us for joyful obedience. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
Special Prayer of Thanksgiving for and Protection over our Military Personnel

*Hymn of Response
Hymn No. 732
“The Battle Belongs to the Lord”
When the power of darkness comes in like a flood,
the battle belongs to the Lord.
He’s raised up a standard, the pow’r of His blood,
the battle belongs to the Lord.
And we sing glory, honor, power and strength to the Lord.
We sing glory, honor, power and strength to the Lord!
When your enemy presses in hard, do not fear,
the battle belongs to the Lord.
Take courage, my friend, your redemption is near,
the battle belongs to the Lord.
And we sing glory, honor, power and strength to the Lord.
We sing glory, honor, power and strength to the Lord!
Chorus
“How Great Is Our God”
The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty,
let all the earth rejoice, all the earth rejoice.
He wraps Himself in light and darkness tries to hide,
and trembles at His voice, and trembles at His voice.
How great is our God! Sing with me how great is our God!
And all will see how great, how great is our God!
And age to age He stands and time is in His hands,
Beginning and the End, Beginning and the End.
The Godhead, Three in One, Father, Spirit, Son,
the Lion and the Lamb, the Lion and the Lamb.
How great is our God! Sing with me how great is our God!
And all will see how great, how great is our God!
How great is our God! Sing with me how great is our God!
And all will see how great, how great is our God!
*Invocation and Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-14)
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we
forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
*Hymns of Adoration
Hymn No.151
“A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe-his craft and power are
great, and armed with cruel hate, on earth is not his equal.
My country, ‘tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing:
land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim’s pride,
from every mountainside, let freedom ring!
© CCLI #737437
Our father’s God, to Thee, Author of liberty, to Thee we sing:
long may our land be bright with freedom’s holy light;
protect us by Thy might, Great God, our King!
O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,
for purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.
O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife,
who more than self their country loved and mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
till all success be nobleness, and every gain divine!
O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam, undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea!
The Worship of God with His Tithes and Our Offerings
That in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty
overflowed in the wealth of their liberality. For I testify that according to their ability,
and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord. 2 Corinthians 8:2,3
