It offers a range of learning opportunities and enables participants to enjoy physical expressionaswellasdevelopintellectualsensibilities.AstheyworktogetherinClassicalGreekDance,candidateslearnaboutcooperationanddevelopanunderstandingoftheshapingofmovementintoartisticformsofexpression. Candidates develop the skill and understanding of Classical Greek Dance, at the same time as building sound technique, by developingthephysicalabilitytocommunicatethroughmovementinanexpressiveandartisticway. Aclearlydefinedstructureallowslearningtotakeplaceinthecontextofsafedancepractice.TheGradedExaminationsbuildup progressively, ensuring that steps and skills learned at lower levels prepare for more complex movements as the candidate progresses. EachClassicalGreekGradedExaminationsallowscandidatestoprogresstothenexthighergradeintheClassicalGreekgenre. Also,arangeoftransferstootherdancegenresbecomespossibleasthecandidatedevelopsphysicallyandlearnscommonskills suchasrunning,useofarms,posture,timingandrhythmicawareness.Inthisway,withadditionalteachinginput,thecandidate isabletodevelopabroadbaseofdancingskills. Following on from the Graded Examinations, candidates may wish to progress to the Vocational Graded Examinations as preparationforemploymentasaprofessionaldanceroraspreparationfordanceteachingqualifications. TheGradedExaminationsinClassicalGreekDancealsoallowforthoseparticipatingsolelyforrecreationalpurposestoproduce qualityworkinasafedancecontext. AIMS TheaimofGradedExaminationsistoprovideanassessmentschemefordance,whichgivesthebasisforthemeasurementofthe individualcandidate'sprogressanddevelopment,whetherthecandidateispursuingdanceasaleisureactivityoraspreparation foraprofessionalcareerasadanceteacherorperformer.Therearesixpracticalexaminationgrades,numberedfrom1to6,in ordertoindicatetheincreasingorderofdifficulty(6representsthehighestlevelofattainment). PRIORLEARNING The Graded Examinations in Classical Greek Dance are intended to be taken consecutively and most candidates will wish to progress through them in sequence in order to develop and demonstrate the requisite skills.
