Tudor Detectives
A special outreach session for Key Stage 2,
delivered in school
This session meets the requirement for a Local History study and a
study of an aspect or theme in British history that extends pupils’
chronological knowledge beyond 1066.
This popular outreach session provides the opportunity for
children to find out about life in Tudor Warwickshire by
exploring a wide range of Tudor costume and artefacts.
The session is led by a Heritage Education group leader and
includes...
 Handling objects-identify and handle replica Tudor items and find
out what materials they were made from and what these everyday
objects tell us about the Tudor way of life.
 Tudor costume - what did people wear, and what were the
differences between the clothes that rich and poor people wore?
 Discover inventories and find out about the possessions owned by
rich and poor people.
 Have a go at making your own inventory by using a quill pen, ink
and parchment style paper.
Session runs for 2 hours and can be delivered to more than one class in a
day. Cost £5 per pupil, adults free of charge. Minimum charge of £135.

We reserve the right to charge the full booking fee if visits are cancelled with less
than 10 working days’ notice.
Amendments to an agreed programme may incur an administration charge.

Learning objectives: Children can:
 to use inventories to identify characteristic features of different types of people in
Tudor times.
 to draw conclusions about life in Tudor times from different sources of information.
 to distinguish between wealth and poverty in Tudor times.
 to learn about the types of evidence for the Tudor period.
Learning outcomes: Children can:
 make inferences about the lifestyles of different types of Tudor people.
 use evidence in inventories to make inferences about people's lifestyles compare
and contrast modern life to Tudor times.
 recognise everyday items from Tudor times and understand how they were used.
 learn about writing and records from the Tudor age.
