“SEE RED” IN THE 2017 NBA PLAYOFFS
The Chicago Bulls launched their 2017 playoff campaign, “SEE RED.” On Sunday, April 16, the Bulls began their playoff
run and faced the Boston Celtics in the First Round, and fans were encouraged to join the team in the “SEE RED”
activities leading up to and during the team’s playoff run. The team planned to extend the “SEE RED” momentum across
Chicago and to all Bulls fans, starting with asking fans to show their support for the team by wearing red on all home
game days, beginning with Game 3 at the United Center on Friday, April 21 at 6 p.m. CT. The Bulls launched the
campaign both inside and outside of the United Center for fans to feel the “SEE RED” excitement. Fans were
encouraged to arrive early before home playoff games and head to the atrium on the east side of the United Center for the “SEE RED” pre-game parties, which started 90
minutes before tipoff. The Bull Market, arena retail stands and the pop-up shop in the atrium were full of exclusive “SEE RED” merchandise and a 40 percent discount on
all adidas gear including jerseys. The “SEE RED” pre-game party included a performance by the Luvabulls, a DJ, food and beverages, special giveaways and fun
interactive games. The Bulls featured the “SEE RED” theme on the exterior LED screens, concourses, scoreboard and all other digital signs through the arena, and Bulls
entertainers, including Benny the Bull, the Luvabulls and Incredibulls, incorporated the campaign into their performances throughout the playoffs. Fans in attendance were
also able to use a special “SEE RED” Snapchat filter. At Game 3, all fans received a “SEE RED” rally towel, presented by McDonald’s. BMO Harris Bank, United Airlines
and Matthew’s Roofing gave out “SEE RED” rally towels for Game 4 on Sunday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m. Additional promotional items included a T-shirt for the sixth game.

PLAYOFF NOTE-A-BULLS
The Celtics have now won all five playoff series they have played against the Bulls.
Game 6 was mostly won at the 3-point line. Boston shot 16-of-39 (.410) while Chicago finished 4-of-19 (.211). For the series, the Celtics made 76 3pointers to the Bulls’ 42. The Bulls shot 29.8 percent from distance for the series.
Boston shot 23-of-23 from the foul line in Game 5, only the seventh time in NBA Playoff history that a team shot 23-of-23 or better from the line (last by
San Antonio on May 10, 2014, 25-of-25).
Dwyane Wade logged his 23rd career postseason double-double in Game 5 on April 26, and is one shy of joining the top-10 list of most playoff doubledoubles in league history. Wade is ranked fourth among active players (Chris Paul 40, Rajon Rondo 38 and Russell Westbrook 33).
The Celtics’ Game 4 win marked the fourth straight time this series the road team has won. The last time this happened in the league was in 2005
between the Mavericks and Rockets. (ESPN Stats & Info)
Dwyane Wade logged 26 points for Chicago on April 23. He now has 144 career playoff games with at least 15 points, which is good for 11th all-time.
He is three games away from tying Magic Johnson and joining the top ten.
Jimmy Butler made 19 free throws in Game 4 on April 23 after not attempting any in Game 3. The last player in the NBA to make at least 19 free throws
one game after not making any was Dwight Howard in March 2013. (STATS)
The Bulls shot 15-of-15 from the foul line in the defeat on April 21, marking just the second time in team playoff history that Chicago shot perfect from
the stripe with at least 15 attempts (May 19, 1992, 19-of-19 vs. Cleveland).
Boston’s 34 assists in Game 3 were the most allowed by the Bulls in a playoff game since Game 5 of the 1989 Eastern Conference semifinals vs. New
York (35).
The Celtics’ 17 3-pointers in Game 3 on April 21 were the most the Bulls have ever allowed in a playoff game.
Robin Lopez was an inside force for the Bulls this series, shooting 34-of-52 (.654) from the field.
Jimmy Butler finished with 14 points and seven rebounds in 38 minutes in Game 3. Butler did not make a trip to the foul line, just the fifth time in his
career (regular season or playoffs) that he played 38+ minutes without a free throw attempt.
Fred Hoiberg became the fifth coach in NBA history to have his first two career playoff victories both come on the road (1969: George Lee, San
Francisco; 1993: Randy Pfund, Los Angeles Lakers; 1996: Jeff Van Gundy, New York Knicks; 2014: Randy Wittman, Washington Wizards).
In Game 2, Rajon Rondo finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, 14 assists and five steals. He tied the Bulls franchise record for most assists in a
playoff game. Additionally, according to Elias, Rondo became the second player in Bulls history – along with Michael Jordan – to post 10 assists and
five steals in a playoff game.
At home in the playoffs, the Bulls hold an all-time postseason record of 121-51 (.703) – fourth among existing NBA franchises (Los Angeles Lakers:
286-96, .749; Miami Heat: 83-32, .722; Boston Celtics: 232-92, .716). On the road in the playoffs, the Bulls own an all-time postseason record of 65-106
(.380) – sixth-best in the NBA.
On Sunday, April 16, the Bulls set a new franchise playoff record for most offensive rebounds in a half with 16 in the first half vs. Boston.
Chicago sought to use its combination of vast playoff experience and youthful energy this postseason. Among players who have averaged at least 12
minutes per game on the current rosters of this year’s 16 playoff teams, Chicago’s average age of 26.2 is the youngest of the remaining playoff teams.
PLAYOFF PREVAIL The Chicago Bulls will return to the playoffs after missing last year’s postseason for the first time since 2007-08. Prior to 2015-16, the Bulls had
made seven consecutive trips to the NBA Playoffs, including 10 out of the last 11 seasons.
