AMENDMENTS TO FEBRUARY 2016 PROSTHESES LIST
The delegate of the Minister for Health has made the Private
Health Insurance (Prostheses) Amendment Rules 2016 No 2
(the Amendment Rules) to correct 3 errors on the February
Prostheses List.
Private Health Insurance Circular
The Amendment Rules will change the February 2016
Prostheses List by:
 changing the product name, description and size of billing
codes AW008 and AW005 to reflect current branding
(details of the changes are in the table attached); and
 correcting a formatting error in the Schedule to the Private
Health Insurance (Prostheses) Rules No 2 that makes the
minimum benefit for billing code JJ687 appear to be listed
in the column for “maximum benefit”.
The Amendment Rules will commence on 17 June 2016, the
day after registration on the Federal Register of Legislation.
Please note that the prostheses listed under billing codes
AW008 and AW005 are the same as those listed on the
February 2016 Prostheses List, but branded differently, so
these prostheses are covered by the billing codes since the
commencement of the February 2016 List on 25 March 2016.
