TAB Number: TB-00209-00-100618 Hard Drives incorrectly identified in Windows Disk Manager Date Issued: 13 July, 2010 Product Model Software Part Numbers Intellex Ultra 4.3 ADD600ULPV200N ADD600ULPV100 ADD600ULPV200 ADD600ULPV300 ADD600ULPV400 ADD600ULPV400WCJ Issue An issue has been found which affects all Intellex Ultra Non-Raid models with BIOS revision 0045. The primary symptoms are: The Drive Numbers for Disks displayed in the Windows Disk Manager do not match the physical hard drive positions in the front drive bay. In addition the hard drive ordering is not sequential. Therefore care must be taken to identify the correct drive when performing the following operations: Recovery Disk operations on the system Flash Drive (C:) Recovery of the E:/F: Drives Replacement of any of the other data hard drives. This document shows how to correctly identify a failed drive and must be used prior to any recovery or drive replacement operation. For information on how to recover a replaced hard drive refer to TB-00208-00-100609 - Update to Ultra Recovery Procedures, visit: http://americandynamics.net/WebApps/getDocument.aspx?filename=intellex-hd-incorrect_tb-00209-00-100618_lt_en.pdf to download the technical bulletin. Solution Use the information contained within this Technical Bulletin to rectify the contrast between the physical hard drive layout and the Windows logical drive for Intellex Ultra when swapping out hard drives. NOTE: These procedures should only be performed by technical support or by qualified personnel.
