Ward 2 Drop-In
Councillor Dave Kerwin invites Ward 2 residents and all Newmarket residents to a drop-in meeting on
Saturday, October 17, at the Newmarket Public Library (438 Park Avenue) – lower level, from 9:30 a.m.
to noon. Come out and hear what’s happening in your ward. For more information contact Councillor

Red Green – “How to Do Everything” at the Newmarket Theatre
Red Green, Canada’s foremost handyman, who became famous for such things as duct tape,
Possum Lodge, and his own unique style of humour and wisdom now shares his thoughts on “How to do
everything.” Come for a laugh and some advice on Saturday, October 17 at 7 p.m. at the Newmarket

Sing-a-long with Russ Concerts
Russ returns for two family concerts this fall on Saturday, October 17 at 10 and 11 a.m. Enjoy a fun-filled

Spooktacular Halloween Crafts
Drop into the Elman W. Cambell Museum (134 Main Street South) on Saturday, October 24 from noon to

No Place to Call Home: Taking Action on Youth Homelessness
A 2013 research report called Leaving Home: Youth Homelessness in York Region revealed how 60
young people are coping with complex challenges of poverty and homelessness in our
neighbourhoods. How much do we know about youth homelessness? How can we participate in creating
meaningful and safe spaces? How can we help our youth succeed? Join us at the Newmarket Public

Student Volunteers Needed for Santa Claus Parade
The 2015 Santa Claus Parade committee is looking for enthusiastic student volunteers to dress as
clowns, elves and costume characters on November 21, 2015. Students can earn volunteer hours for

The Town is also accepting float applications for the 2015 Newmarket Santa Claus Parade taking place
on November 21. To learn more on how you can get involved by participating in this year’s parade and to

Monday, November 9.
Housekeeping Amendments to Councils Procedure By-law 2013-46
Housekeeping amendments to Council’s Procedure By-law 2013-46, which governs the rules of
procedure for Committees of Council, Committee of the Whole and Council will be considered at the
October 20, 2015 Committee of the Whole meeting, with final adoption of the amendments at the October

Notice of Approval to amend Zoning By-law 2010-40
Take notice that the Town of Newmarket Council has approved an amendment to the Zoning By-law
2010-40 on October 15 under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P. 13, as amended.
And take notice that any person or agency may appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board in respect to the
by-law, by fi ling with the Town of Newmarket Clerks by 4:30 p.m. on November 2 a notice of appeal
setting out the objection to the by-law and the reasons in support of the objection. A notice of appeal can
be fi led by completing the required Ontario Municipal Board Form “Appellant Form (A1)”, accompanied
by a certified cheque or money order in the amount of $125.00 payable to the Minister of Finance. Forms
can be located on the Board’s website www.omb.gov.on.ca. In addition, to the fees listed above, pursuant
to By-law No. 2013-57, a processing fee of $155.00 per Ontario Municipal Board appeal, payable to the
Town of Newmarket is required to be paid at the time of fi ling a Notice of Appeal. An explanation of the
zoning amendment and Council’s reason for approval is available below and on the Town’s website.
Only individuals, corporations and public bodies may appeal a decision of the Town of Newmarket to the
Ontario Municipal Board. A notice of appeal may not be filed by an unincorporated association or group.
However, a notice of appeal may be filed in the name of an individual who is a member of the association
or the group on its behalf. No person or public body shall be added as a party to the hearing of the appeal
unless, before the decision was made, the person or public body made oral submissions at a public
meeting or written submissions to the council or, in the opinion of the Ontario Municipal Board, there are
reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.

traffic control services at designated locations and times throughout the Municipality to ensure
pedestrians; in particular school children are safely crossing roadways. This position closes on
