Peter Makuzha
General Manager
Peter commenced as a sponsored Registered Nurse at Bupa Queens Park in 2004 and recalls
his welcome to Bupa as “exceptional”. He had an Emergency Department background and was
excited to commence a career in Aged Care. He was supported by his General Manager and spent
the following 9 years as Care Manager of Queens Park. During this period he also participated in a
Golden Opportunity as General Manager at Bupa Bexley.
In 2014, Peter became the GM of Bupa Bankstown and says he is inspired by his team and the
residents at the home.
“Bupa Bankstown is a beautiful home with a wonderful team and residents.
“The strong desire to make a difference to the lives of residents under my care as well as staff and
residents’ relatives inspires me, and is the reason I love my job. Working in aged care gives me the
opportunity to form lasting relationship with residents, families and employees,” Peter said.
Peter is open to new ideas, and helps his team to develop by identifying their talents and enabling
them to grow as individuals and as a team. He includes everyone, and values their opinions, which
is one of the reasons why he won the GM of the Year Award.
“I am truly humbled to be named the GM of the Year, it is such an honour,” Peter said.
Peter’s career journey and growth has been supported and encouraged by his Managers through
Golden Opportunities, education and learning opportunities.
“Bupa really invests in its employees, there are plenty of opportunities to gain experience, there
are defined career pathways and exceptional support systems in place. You never feel alone as
you’re part of the Bupa team”.
