Identifying Plates You are going to color the MAJOR plates of the world • Remember, the world is round and the maps are not! Pay careful attention to the plates that wrap “around” the earth! • Major Plates to Color: – – – – – – – Pacific Plate North American Plate South American Plate African Plate Indo-Australian Plate Eurasian Plate Antarctic Plate The first page to color: • The simplest map is the map that ends up on top. Choose one color for each plate. • Major Plates to Color: – Pacific Plate – North American Plate – South American Plate – African Plate – Australian Plate – Eurasian Plate – Antarctic Plate Next map – coloring instructions on next slide! Color the same plates the same colors you did on the last sheet… • Example: If you colored the Pacific Plate pink on the “Plate Boundaries” sheet, make it pink on EVERY SHEET you get today. • Pay careful attention to what you’re coloring. You are ONLY COLORING THE MAJOR PLATES! Once the map is colored, now label the plates! Indo- There is an Indian Plate and an IndoAustralian Plate. Label the plate with Australia on it, IndoAustralian On the sheet that looks like this… You will… • OUTLINE the MAJOR plates in the correct color (remember to use the same color on each sheet) When you’re finished coloring and labeling… Answer the questions on the “Lithospheric Plates Question” sheet.
