Penny: A penny is worth one cent, .01¢, and has our 16th President

Those are all names for money, you know?
Just like there are many names for money,
there are also many types of it. Here are all
of the forms you might see money come in:
Penny:
A penny is worth one cent, .01¢, and has our 16th President Abraham Lincoln on the face
since 1909.
Nickel:
A nickel is worth five cents, .05¢, and was first struck in 1866. Since then, there have
been many designs including the Shield nickel, Liberty Head nickel, Buffalo nickel,
Jefferson nickel, and Lewis and Clark nickel.
Dime:
The dime is worth ten cents, .10¢, and is the smallest and thinnest of all of the US coins.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, our 32nd president, has been the face of this coin since 1946.
Quarter:
A quarter is worth twenty-five cents, .25¢. These coins have George Washington,
our 1st president, on the face and have had a different reverse side for each of the
50 states since 1999.
Half Dollar:
A half dollar is also called a fifty-cent piece because it is worth .50¢. This coin has
been produced almost every year since 1794
Dollar Coin:
The dollar coin is worth one dollar, $1.00, and is sometimes called a silver dollar or
gold dollar depending on the color of the coin, not the metal used to make the
coin.
One Dollar Bill:
The US Dollar, USD, is worth $1.00. It is the most common denomination of
US currency and has had George Washington on the face since 1963.
Two Dollar Bill:
The two dollar bill is worth $2.00 and is the least common bill in circulation.
3rd President Thomas Jefferson has been on the face of this bill since 1929.
Five Dollar Bill:
The five dollar bill, worth $5.00, features Abraham Lincoln on the face and is
so commonly used that the average bill only lasts about 16months before
needing replaced.
Ten Dollar Bill:
The ten dollar bill is worth $10.00. This bill features Alexander Hamilton, the 1st
US Secretary of Treasury. He is one of only two non presidents to be featured
on current US bills.
Twenty Dollar Bill:
The twenty dollar bill is worth $20.00 and houses our 7th President Andrew
Jackson. These bills are typically worn out and replaced every 2 years.
Fifty Dollar Bill:
The fifty dollar bill, worth $50.00, was first issued in 1862 and currently features
18th President Ulysses S. Grant on the face.
One Hundred Dollar Bill:
The one hundred dollar bill is worth $100.00, and is often referred to as a
“Benjamin” because Benjamin Franklin, one of our founding fathers, has been
on the face of the bill since 1929.
