kanYe Krunch
Kanye West is an American Hip Hop artist well known for his
chart-topping hit songs, countless awards, and his massive
ego. He is often known to talk about how great he is during
interviews as well as being “the voice of a generation”. The
title “kanYe Krunch” is used to represent his self absorbed
behavior and statements as well as alliteration of the repitition
of the letter “K”.
The spelling of his name in the title comes from the way it is
spelled on the cover of his 2007 album “Graduation”, which is
often said to be his best album. It is also a personal favorite of
mine. This album inspired the color scheme and font, as well as
the use of the bear on the logo. “Krunch” comes from the inevitable “crunch” of the cereal. There is a chain hanging around
the letter “Y” to showcase his fame and fortune.

The front panel showcases a picture of Kanye holding a large
bowl of the ceareal while he appears to be glowing in order to
show his ego and self-proclaimation of him being god. He is
showcasing the product as well in his hands and at the bottom
of the panel. The cereal description is a pun of Kanye’s work.
The color scheme and design for the front panel of this cereal
box came primarily from Kanye West’s “Graduation” album.
The nutrition keys have also been altered to reflect some of
Kanye West’s accolades.

The teaser on the front panel offers “a chance” to buy a pair of
Kanye West’s signature pair of shoes by Nike, The Air Yeezy II.
These shoes are extremely very rare and expensive, they are
known to be priced at about $5,000. Notice that you will only
have “a chance” to buy the shoes rather than being given to
you for free like some other cereal box prizes. But any sneakerhead or Kanye West fan would be enticed to see this offer,
without realizing the smaller details. This offer was meant to
show the wealth and ego of Kanye and to show that he
wouldn’t want to simply give a pair of his shoes away for free,
he would want you to buy them. The color of the glow and font
was based upon the recurring color scheme that is found
throughout the rest of the box.

The back panel plays on the ego of Kanye west once more,
from having small images of his head scattered around the
back panel, to having every last multiple choice answer be
Kanye. Both of the activities found on the back panel of the
box are used to provide even more silliness and fun based on
the theme.

Both of the side panels are filled with goofy puns and references to Kanye West’s work as a musician. Just about every
gold word in the cereal description is a reference to one of
Kanye’s popular songs that any big fan would be expected to
know. Some references can be found in the nutrition facts as
well in order to be silly and show, once more, that this cereal is
mainly focused on Kanye West.
