Writing Learning Objectives Using CCSS

Writing Learning Objectives Using CCSS
1. Interpret parts of an expression, such as terms, factors, and coefficients.
2. Complete the square in a quadratic expression to reveal the maximum or minimum
value of the function it defines.
3. Know and apply the Remainder Theorem: For a polynomial p(x) and a number a, the
remainder on division by x – a is p(a), so p(a) = 0 if and only if (x – a) is a factor of p(x).
4. Graph exponential and logarithmic functions, showing intercepts and end behavior, and
trigonometric functions, showing period, midline, and amplitude.
5. Fit a linear function for a scatter plot that suggests a linear association.
6. Correctly use frequently confused words (e.g., to/too/two; there/their).
7. Place phrases and clauses within a sentence, recognizing and correcting misplaced and
dangling modifiers.
8. Use precise words and phrases, relevant descriptive details, and sensory language to
capture the action and convey experiences and events.
9. Provide a concluding statement or section that follows from and supports the argument
presented.
10.Interpret figures of speech (e.g., hyperbole, paradox) in context and analyze their role in
the text.
11.Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an
accurate summary that makes clear the relationships among the key details and ideas.
12.Determine the central ideas or conclusions of a text; summarize complex concepts,
processes, or information presented in a text by paraphrasing them in simpler but still
accurate terms.
13.Evaluate the hypotheses, data, analysis, and conclusions in a science or technical text,
verifying the data when possible and corroborating or challenging conclusions with
other sources of information.
14.Introduce precise, knowledgeable claim(s), establish the significance of the claim(s),
distinguish the claim(s) from alternate or opposing claims, and create an organization
that logically sequences the claim(s), counterclaims, reasons, and evidence.
15.Provide a concluding statement or section that follows from and supports the
information or explanation provided (e.g., articulating implications or the significance of
the topic).
