5.5 x and y Intercepts
To find the xintercept you plug in 0 for y.
We can graph linear functions quickly by finding the xintercept and the yintercept.
To find the yintercept you plug in 0 for x.
Example:
xintercept: the xcoordinate of a point where a graph crosses the xaxis. (#, 0)
xintercept
2x + 3y = 12
yintercept
(4, 0)
(0 , 2)
yintercept: the ycoordinate of a point where a graph crosses the yaxis. (0, #)
x 2y = 4
