~ OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE Your new Binks "B" Fluid Section has been thoroughly tested before leaving the factory. The "B" Fluid Section will produce a 30: 1 ratio with a Comet four inch air motor. MOUNTING TO MOTOR No special adjustmentsare required before assemblyof the "B" Fluid Section to either of the air motors. 1. Lay Air Motor and Fluid ~ion on bench. 2. Remove three Tie Rods. 3. Pull Air Motor Piston Rod out as far as possible. Attach Air Motor to Fluid Section by turning Fluid Section Pump Shaft 41-10272 into Air Motor Piston Rod. Lock two Rods together. 4. Install and tighten Tie Rods into Air Motor Base. 5. Line up Tie Rods with holes in SpacerRing 41-1509. Attach Nuts and tighten securely. The assembledpump is now ready to be installed on a mount. Refer to the System Sheetfor the particular mount used. PRECAUTIONARY NOTES WARNING: Ground the Airless Pump before operating. 1. Do not use fluid pressuresabove what is required for proper atomization. 2. Handle Pump Shaft and Cylinder with care to avoid scoring and scratchesthat will causethe packings to wear rapidly. 3. Do not allow Container to run empty. This will damage Pump Fluid Section. MAINTENANCE NOTES With proper care and cleaning the "B" Fluid Section will give a long and useful life. TO STORE PUMP Pump should be kept wet when not in use. This prevents formation of gummy film on inside surfaces. For overnight storage, allow solvent to remain in Fluid Section. For longer storage, flush with mixture of 50% solvent and 50% number 10 oil. Remove oil with solvent flush prior to re-use. TO CLEAN FLUID SECTION For daily cleaning and color changing, circulate an approved solvent through the Fluid Section. Several short flushings are better than circulating for long periods of time. For a thorough cleaning, the Fluid Section should be disassembledand all parts inspected for wear or damage.A thorough cleaning should be performed once a month, or as required. Disassemblethe Fluid Section as follows: I. Remove Pump from Mount. INSTRUCTIONS 2. Place Fluid Section end in vise and tighten jaws on SpacerRing 41-1510. Insure Air Motor end of Pump is supportedadequately. 3. Loosen Lower Tie Rods 41-1507 one half turn each. 4. Carefully remove Foot Valve 41-2412, Seat 41-1526, Bal120-3250 and Cage 41-1545. 5. Slide Cylinder 41-1537 off Piston and Shaft Assembly. 6. Remove one Tie Rod 41-1507 and one Spacer41-1505. 7. Use wrench on upper flats of Pump Shaft 41-10272. Loosen Locknut 41-10260. Unscrew entire Piston Assembly from Pump Shaft. 8. Unscrew Locknut 41-10260 from Piston 41-10268. RemoveAdapter 41-10279, Packing Set and Adapter 41-1531 from Piston. 9. Hold Piston 41-10268 in a vise on the flats provided. Unscrew RetainerNut 41-10256 from Piston. Remove Seat41-1456 and Ball 20-4232. Care must be taken to prevent damageto Piston on the area where Packings seal. 10. Remove Outlet 41-11021 and Packing Set. 11. Clean all parts with an approved solvent and inspect for wear or damage.Replaceany worn or damagedparts. 12. Reassemblein reverseorder. Before tightening Locknut 41-10260 againstPump Shaft, adjust Packing Set as follows: Screw Locknut againstAdapter 41-10279 until proper adjustmentis made. After adjustment is made, screw Piston Assembly into Pump Shaft until Locknut 41-10260 is a snug fit against end of Pump Shaft. Tighten Locknut againstPump Shaft until two parts are locked firmly together. 13. Lubricate Packingswith petroleum jelly. NOTE: Make sure Fluid Cylinder 41-1537 is all the way up to the Outlet 41-11021. The Foot Valve 41-2412 should make about five revolutions into the SpacerRing 41-1510. Insert three Tie Rods 41-1507 with Spacers41-1505 and tighten. To seal Cylinder against Outlet and Foot Valve, tighten Foot Valve, then Tie Rods. NOTES: 1. TungstenCarbide Seatsin Foot Valve and Piston are reversible for longer wear. 2. Refer to the Binks catalog for Air Motors used with the "B" Fluid Section. 3. An approvedsolvent is one compatible with the material being pumped. 4. If paint showson Piston Shaft 41-10272, turn air off on Pump, clean Shaft, releasefluid pressureand take up on Gland Nut 41-11473.
