JUNIOR TENNIS

Session 1: September 13 - December 5
At the Kingsbury Club our goal is to ensure that all our juniors have
the skills and knowledge necessary to play and enjoy a match.
Fall 2015 is a 12 week session. Match Play is included in the
price of all clinics from Red Ball 2 and up. We strongly believe in
the research that shows children who play twice a week progress
four times faster that those who play once a week. Therefore
juniors who register for a second day of clinics will receive a 15%
discount on the second clinic day.
Membership is required for Orange Ball 2, Green Ball 2, and all
Yellow Ball Clinics. A Junior Tennis Membership, which does not
include fitness or the pool, may be purchased for $199/year.
PLEASE NOTE: if none of our offerings fit into your schedule, we
are happy to set up customized clinics with a minimum of 4 children.
r LITTLE TENNIS - ages 3-4
Foam/Red Ball, 36 ft. court, 19” Racquet
This class introduces the basic skills necessary to help develop
eye/hand coordination, gross motor skills, self esteem and to
improve balance.
Cost:

r RED BALL 1 - ages 5-6
Red Ball, 36 ft. court, 19-21” Racquet
Players will develop their motor skills by catching/throwing and
bumping/rallying with their forehand and backhand groundstrokes.
Basic serving and scoring is introduced.

r ORANGE BALL 2 - ages 9-10
Orange Ball, 60 ft. court, 25” Racquet
Experienced players from Orange ball 1 will begin to develop
advanced swing technique and more solid serves and returns.
Point construction and improved positioning will become evident
during matches.

r GREEN BALL 1 - ages 10-12
Green Ball, 78 ft. court, 26-27” Racquet
Players entering this level or progressing from orange 2 will work
on developing consistency in their groundstrokes with work on
volleys and overheads.

r GREEN BALL 2 - ages 10-12
Red Ball, 36 ft. court, 21-23” Racquet
Players will build on their skills by learning to rally with direction
and differentiate between short and deep. Overhand serving is
introduced.
Green Ball/Yellow Ball, 78 ft. court, 26-27” Racquet
Players will further develop their technique and game using
advanced swing technique, solid net skills and transition shots. The
ability to construct points, use effective strategies and improved
court positioning will become evident during play.

develop their groundstroke technique and serves. Basic net skills
and transition shots will be introduced using the expanded court.

Players interested in competing on their JV team are appropriate
for this 2 hour skill building clinic that will focus on technique, shot
selection and strategy for both singles and doubles play.

r YELLOW BALL 2 - ages 13 and up
MATCH PLAYr
Current and aspiring Varsity players will further develop their
technique, strategy and tactics through drill and point play.
Advanced technique, tactics, strategy and on court conditioning
are all components of this clinic
As in any sport, practice is a necessary component in order for
your child to improve their skills. Match Play ensures that your
child will get the practice they need. All participants must reserve
their spot a minimum of 24 hrs in advance by signing up at the
front desk or responding to the email reminder. Sorry, but drop
ins are not allowed.

r ELITE YELLOW BALL
This twice a week program is by invitation only and is for serious,
committed, competitive players who’s goal is to compete in USTA
tournaments and excel on their High School Teams. In addition to
advanced shot technique, tactics and strategy, on court conditioning
by a Certified ACE Trainer is a vital component of this clinic.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

■ Payment in full must be made at the clinic start date. Juniors
committing to multiple sessions may be billed at the start of
each session or monthly with the credit card on file. All other
arrangements must be made through the Director of Tennis.
■ No refunds are given after the start of the session without an
accompanying doctor’s note.
■ Make up classes will only be available on set days during
Public School Vacation Week.

we would be happy to charge the pro-rated amount for the
remaining classes in the session.
■ All participants of match play are required to register via
email or by calling the Club at least 24 hours in advance.
