Join us for a parade on the Promenade, then
gather in the Schine Student Center Atrium to start
the celebration of Latino/Hispanic Heritage Month.
Learn about Syracuse University’s celebratory
month celebrations! Enjoy Latin dancing, Latin
cuisine, and much more! Free lunch.

Balcón Criollo: Exhibit Opening, 6-8 p.m.
La Casita (109 Otisco St., Syracuse, NY)
Opening reception for the “Balcón Criollo” exhibit.
Live music and traditional tapas. For the fourth
consecutive year, La Casita presents a gallerywide
installation of personal memorabilia, photographs,
letters, relics, merits, diaries, art pieces, and family
keepsakes of special significance. This year’s
theme, “FAMILIA,” will focus on narratives about the
history of our families and communities. The show
will include La Casita’s collection of memorabilia
related to Latino baseball. Special Guests: MLB
stars CARLOS BAERGA and CANDY MALDONADO.

José Miguel Hernandez Hurtado in From Cuba
to ’Cuse Community Folk Art Center

José Miguel Hernández Hurtado will present
his one-man autobiographical production From
Cuba to ’Cuse in the Community Folk Art Center’s
Community Black Box Theater. His story tells of
his immigration to the United States from Cuba
and the culture clashes he encountered when

Point of Contact Gallery, The Warehouse Building

Argentine artist Juan Cavallero explores the
borderless nature of human desperation and
poverty. Cavallero uses photography and video
to compel viewers and restore identity to the
invisible and forgotten. Since 1969, Cavallero has
staged exhibitions around the world as an artist,
graphic and industrial designer, and photographer.
